It is a great matchup. Talk about star power. Messi, Ronaldo, Henri, Rooney, Eto'o ...

Great stuff. Wish I was at home. Hopefully ESPN will show a replay on Classic tonight.

I was just at the tire shop talking to them about getting tires for my wife's car. They said they could get it done in about two hours and I told them I had to bring it back tomorrow. I've got important business to attend to. :)

The new ball seems to have some interesting aerodynamics. Free kicks could be very interesting.

Ronaldo already close to scoring a couple goals.

Do they introduce a new ball before every major tournament. That's got to be frustrating for the players. Particularly goalies.

Valdes definitely had trouble with an early free kick from Ronaldo and Park almost scored on the rebound. On the Barca goal, Van Der Saar and two ManU defenders got schooled by Eto'o.

Free kick ManU - Giggs had a wicked curve on it but it didn't drop enough.

One of my workmates has gone by Bus to Rome. God knows how long that took him. He still didn't have a ticket at the time bu fancied his chances of getting one in Italy.

Barca started to dominate as the game went on. Rooney was very quiet which is unusual.

Seems like the Eto'o goal sucked the wind out of ManU. Up till then it looked like they were going to score first.

He'd be a much better player if he would toughen up and stop fishing for fouls.

He is pretty awesome when he just forgets about the contact and works for the shot.

Second half starts. Carlos Teves replaces Anderson for ManU.

Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets were completely controlling the midfield prior to the half. If Man U doesn't change that it will get picked apart.

Man U's still playing a bit conservative, perhaps Berbatov will change that a bit, though Evra and O'Shea need to get more push up the side.

Another beautiful sequence from Barca. This game has been all Blaugrana since the first five minutes.

I think what people missed about Barca after the Chelsea games is that Michael Essien is awesome and he consistently diffused the Spanish side's attack. Man U doesn't have an Essien and it's been on the rack most of the game.

A lot of those players are from their system - Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Busquets, Pique and Valdes. They've made some great additions around that core, but it pays to have your own personal superstar assembly line. Barca may have put 5/11 of the starting Spanish national team out on the field today (dependent on whether Marcos Senna will be healthy for the next World Cup qualifier).

It would seem to be there for Spain to win. Take the Spaniards you saw on the field today, add in Torres, Villa, Casillas, Ramos, Capdevilla, Silva, Fabregas (etc., etc., etc.) and there isn't a better national side on the planet.

Obviously Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany and France are always in the hunt too, but I think you saw the best football in the world being played today, and it's coming from Spain.

Man U comments - Ferguson starts Park instead of Tevez? Idiotic. Tevez is a fantastic player and will play great next year - for another club. Van DeSar was the best United player. Vidic, Ferdinand, Rooney, Carrick were underwhelming and were consistently outplayed.

Barca comments - Played really nice football. Iniesta and Xavi were their best players. Messi's header was sublime - he adjusted to the ball in midair, which was curling away from him, and he totally fooled van de Sar with his perfect touch.

I love Spanish football, but I got SOOOO sick of the Barca players rolling around on the ground after a tap. I would say that Puyol and Iniesta spent 10 minutes on the ground holding their ankle/calf, etc...

It really cheapens the experience of high level soccer.
