Wasn't sure where to post this, but since it's not technically "minor league", I thought this would be the best place for it. The above link is to a nice interactive College Baseball bracket.

Regionals start Fri.

edit: fixed the link

I'm hoping Louisville can stay hot and make another run to Omaha. Having the Regional at home should help.

I am hoping to get over to watch the IU/UofL game Friday.

Should be a good series. Both teams are absolutely on fire.

Muskies all the way! :beerme:

I am thrilled to see X get in; now if my other alma mater (Marshall) could get their act together thinks would be rosy. Problem is, C-USA is a pretty tough league even if it isn't what it once was.

Thom had a great line at the end of that interview. The coach's young daughter was mugging for the camera and playing with her hair, and Thom said "that's all right, Jeff does it all the time."

Looks like X's maiden voyage may be a short one. 8-0 K-State in the third.

Xavier was just a couple of grand slams away from being right in that one. Go get 'em tomorrow (twice)! Louisville looks like they'll get by IU. Western Kentucky with a nice win. Ohio State gets pounded. Kind of a mixed bag for area teams.

Ohio States Closer Jake Hale comes into the top of the 8th with a man on a 2-0 count to the batter and no outs, throws 2 pitches which were both absolute lasers and records 3 outs. The 1st pitch is drilled at his head he throws his glove up it ricochets off right to the 2b who starts the 4-6-3 DP then the 2nd pitch gets drilled right at the RF playing fairly deep.

Incidentally he has a rather unique tattoo. A thin handlebar mustache on the inside of his left index finger, which he brings up to his lip as a conversation piece. :D

No one wants to win that one. both teams lft got one runner on in the 22nd, but neither scored. Still 2-2 heading to the 23rd.

BTW, VA is up 5-0 over Cal Irvine. That's the only other game going on at the moment. Started 3 hours after the Texas game, and may finish before.

Cal Irvine is batting in the top of the 9th, trailing 5-0 1 out, 1 on.

Texas just got a 2 out single in the top of the 24th, but the next batter Etier struck out looking. On to the bottom half of the 24th.

I feel sorry for the catchers.

The Longhorns lead off hitter is 1-for-11.

Texas only used 3 pitchers, but BC used 7 or 8, I think. Most for an inning or so.

BC has to turn around and play the early game tomorrow.

BTW, Boston College will have to turn around and play again later today at 1:00 p.m. EST. Wow. It'll probably be another hour or so before these guys get in bed, and they probably have to be at the park by at least 11:00 tomorrow morning. They may get six hours of sleep, if that. Texas plays at 7:00 tomorrow night, so they'll get some extra time to rest.

SandyD

Army is the #4 seed in that bracket. BC is#3. If they manage to beat Army, they have to face Texas again. It's a good thing these guys are young. :D

There have been 16 teams eliminated. 11 4-seeds, 2 3-seeds, and 3 2-seeds.
The undefeated teams include 10 1-seeds, 4 2-seeds, and 2 3-seeds.

6 #1 seeds have to come out of the losers bracket. UC Irvine, Okla, Rice, E Car, Clemson, and Ga Tech.

They didn't call it (it's now 37-4 in the ninth). Since it's the NCAA tournament, I don't think the coaches and umpires had the authority to call the game absent a mercy rule; any such decision would have needed to come from the NCAA itself.

How was the regional in Louisville? I wish I could have gone but I was out of town. I've heard great things about that park and the crowds the showed up for the games this weekend.

BTW, go Cards!

The whole complex is nice. The park is pretty cool except for the turf. And the crowds have been great. Louisville and Vandy is clearly the matchup of the 2 best teams in the bracket.

Cards advance to play CS-Fullerton in the superegional. If they can get Dominguez and the rest of the bats going they have the pitching to make things interesting.
