Same here. I've already e-mailed the guys in the booth. Hopefully they'll get it straightened out.

Our man McDonald hits into an inning ending DP. Could we send him to Carolina please???

Homer Bailey

I thought the fact that McDonald was DFA'd meant he couldn't hurt the Reds anymore. I was wrong.

Just a little info from last nights Carolina game where Stewart left after 4 innings. He was taken out just for precaution to his innings pitched/pitches thrown. The Reds are aware of his usage and just limited him a little to keep everything on their target.

And think they screwed that up with Thompson last July, and aren't going to take a chance on that again with their young guys. No reason to.

Honestly, I don't care how many runs Bailey allows right now. What I'm looking at is his K/BB ratio. Unfortunately, he's not faring too well in that department right now. He's still walking quite a few hitters and aside from one start where he struckout 15, his strikeout totals aren't there. Homer was very impressive during spring training but for whatever reason, he just hasn't carried it over into the regular season. His stuff is there but it looks like he left his location down in Florida. Hopefully he can put it all together soon and finish this season strong.

regarding Stubbs in right field...

If things continue as they are, I suspect Stubbs may see the Reds after the break. That would open up a slot for Heisey.

If Stubbs were brought up, however, he would likely have to get some of his playing time at a corner outfield spot. It's also interesting that he has been hitting in the two spot in the order. That tells me that for the near term, the Reds are set with Taveras leading off and playing center.

Would be typical reds for them to do something this stupid.

Agree. Both Bruce and Dickerson struggled playing in a corner in the majors after spending most of their time as plus CF in the minors. Many say it was lack of familiarity with the corner spots. Maybe this is an attempt to avoid the same mistake, because Stubbs won't be solely a CF initially. Maybe later, but when first called he'll play where the opportunity permits.

Both you and RVH have a good point here. It doesn't hurt Stubbs to play another position he has CF down cold at this point IMO. While he's still working on his offensive game it doesn't hurt to maximize his versatility.

Perhaps the best early development on the farm this year, alongside Stubbs/Heisey, is the success of the LH starters -- Wood, Fairel, Horst, Maloney. To think that out of these 4, one (at least) can become a major league 4/5 starter is no longer pie in the sky, as it would have been a couple months ago.
