Stubbs singles in the first for Louisville, then what some have called the best 3-hole hitter in the game, Darnell McDonald, grounds into a double play

Chris Heisey enters today's game having gone 6-for-10 with two homers in his last two games. Overall, he's hitting .370/.450/.608 - 1.057 OPS with 15 doubles, 2 triples, and 8 homers, and a 24 BB/14 K ratio in 181 atbats. It's time to promote him to Louisville, IMO.

Darnell McDonald homers. 5-1 Louisville. That McDonald guy can rake, maybe the Reds should call him up.

Now that Castillo got the callup, can McD be far behind?

He's being blocked by Stubbs...unless you suggest he goes to LF/RF.

I would think (and/or hope) that Frazier sees a promotion in about 6 weeks.

RBI double by Heisey makes it 4-0 Carolina in the second inning. He is 1-for-1 with a double and a walk.

The question becomes who is cleared off the Bats' roster to make a spot for Heisey (and then Frazier). The outfielders are prospects except for Hopper and McD. I don't get the feeling they are going to be cut loose.

Id release Mcdonald to make room for Heisey

McDonald, Hopper, or Stubbs

Stubbs shows more warning track power. He seems to be doing that a lot lately.

Bats up 7-5 going to the bottom of the 6th.

Ramirez had poor outing but Manuel is cruising.

Frazier is hitting over. 320 with 3 homers and 21 doubles. Not too terrible, I'd say. Remains the number 2 prospect in the Reds chain. Nix/Gomes keeping LF warm for him.

I wish the Reds would move Frazier back to third base. He has a lot more value at third base. Move Votto left, Frazier to third, with Alonso at 1B.

Another huge by Heisey as he is 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, a walk, and 2 RBI. He has a nine game hitting streak, including five three hit games during the streak.

Frazier is 3-for-4 with a double, HR (#3), walk, and 3 RBI.

I just don't think Votto to LF is going to happen. He doesn't seem to be the kind of plus defender they want in their outfield. Frazier, as a former SS, has potential to be a better defender in the OF. If the Reds really want a new third baseman, he will likely come in a trade.

It sure is fun to think about though.

LF Joey Votto
CF Chris Heisey/Drew Stubbs
RF Jay Bruce
3B Todd Frazier
SS Chris Valaika/Zach Cozart
2B Brandon Phillips
1B Yonder Alonso
C Ryan Hanigan/?

Geez. Just release Dorn and McDonald, and move Heisey and Frazier to triple AAA and let's see how they hit at that level. Enough already. Heisey could be the major league answer in LF for all we know.

Why would the Reds release Danny Dorn, a guy who entered this season with a career OPS north of .900 and has yet to turn 25 years old?

Three moves that seem so obvious they should have been made yesterday: Alonso to AA, Heisey to AAA, and Frazier to 3b, either at Carolina or Louisville (unless Heisey can play it.)

Because he's batting a terrible .200 and preventing others from moving up. Okay, send him back to double AA and move Heisey up. Move Frazier up too and move him back to 3B.

I agree with the previous poster. Move Alonzo up too. If our farm system is our backbone, why waste time with some of these guys. Either they progress or they don't. But if a guy is dominating (like Heisey), why leave him at that level?

It sure seems like management is slow to react. They must be playing golf everyday and not paying attention. :D

Why this rush on these guys?

Rushing does nothing but get you in trouble...

Chances are if these guys move up a level that is where they will stay for the rest of the year unless we see injuries...

Alonso to AA now or after the draft really doesn't matter...same with heisey...

and sometimes it is better to see a guy struggle a little bit at a level and then see how they react...

But getting rid of Dorn???? that is one of the craziest thoughts have I have seen in a while...

The organization does have some questions that need answered but they are good questions...With a couple big bats that should be ready in the next year or two, but where to put them at the major league level...

Guys like Votto, Bruce, Alonso, Frazier, Soto, Stubbs, heisey, Cozart, Phillips...how do you get them al on the field and do you trade for a position of need, like C or P...

Sarsota's lineup is in bad enough shape as it is. It'll be interesting to see if someone can step up now that Alonso is going to AA. To get an idea of how important he is, just look at the numbers from yesterday's lineup with and without him.
