We're 2nd in the National League in Double Plays converted with 60.

We're 3rd in percentage of throwing out runners at 42%. Hanigan's a stud.

We're best in the NL in fewest Passed Balls at 1.

We're #3 in the NL in Defensive Efficiency at .710.

We're #4 in the NL in fewest runs allowed per game.

We're best in the NL in fewest hits per nine innings at 8.3 per game.

We're #4 in the NL in fewest Wild Pitches with 15.

Of course, we're by far the best in fewest blown saves per opportunity in the NL.

We're best in team shutouts having amassed 6 of them already this season.

We're best in number of complete games in the NL with 3.

We're #2 in ERA+ in the NL.

Just food for thought.

Wow. That's stupendous. It really gives you an idea why we haven't completely collapsed with our moribund offense.

Hanigan just picked Dunn off of 2nd base to end an inning with 2 runners on base.

Awesome!

Joseph is currently viewing it. Maybe he's working on it?

This shows that playing "fundamental" baseball, good defense, and doing the little things right can add up to a lot. The Reds defense is so much better than last year. It is often hard to separate pitching and defense, but the Reds are doing both well this season.

Hopefully these traits our team has will allow us to wait out the storm and play near .500 ball until we get back to being healthy. That is one thing good teams can do, lets hope we dont collapse.

I think what all this says is that we can get better. Not to get greedy, but imagine what some of this would have been with guys who should be on the field that we have not been able to see. I see great things from this team and getting better each year.

Its more of a relief then it is a surprise that our pitching has been that good.We all knew that it could be and would have to be for the team to have any chance this year. Its sad to say that if Votto doesn't get back soon and some other guys don't start hitting better the pitching will have to be even better for us to make the playoffs.

Sorry for bringing some negativity to such a positive post. Thanks for the stats and hope.
