I agree as well but it might still be a little early for anything really serious to come up.I'll start with this mention of DeRosa and the Reds in the same sentence.

I actually think we will see more movement before the trade deadline this year with teams wanting to unload cap space. I would also not be a fan of bringing in DeRosa. Never been a big fan of him.

I really doubt the Reds do anything drastic unless they can dump a big contract. (Arroyo, Harang, Cordero) They have the players in the minor leagues to swing a trade for a big bat, but the problem is they would have to add payroll to do so. I just can't see that happening this year with the economic situation being what it is.

IMHO we will end up getting DeRosa It just makes too much sense for it not to happen. The Indians desperately need some ML ready pitching and we desperately need another bat in our lineup, especially a guy that can provide some pop.

Now I don't have all these sites for information like most of you do but I am pretty sure DeRosa is a FA after this year? (correct me if I'm wrong)

^^ If incorrect what are his options next year?

Now on another point if he is a FA after this season unless it is a sure thing we are going to keep him through 2010 I wouldn't go after this guy.

If the Indians are going to get major league ready pitching for Derosa I sure hope we arent the ones giving it up.

Another good reason not to give up much of anything for him!

What about ben zobrist? the guy can play 3B, SS, 2B, RF and he has i think 12 or 13 home runs alreadyand he's a switch hitter. The rays need a starting pitcher so why not:

Reds Trade Bronson Arroyo and a PTBNL to the Rays for Ben Zobrist. I'd play him at 3rd until EE comes back and IF EE hits in his rehab assignment and hits in a couple of spot starts up here, than moves Zobrist to short and EE starts again at third.

Finally we need to find a good RH power bat to play LF. Someone who won't be with the club past 2010 so it opens up for Alonso and Francisco. My guy has to be Jermaine Dye.

Reds Trade Matt Maloney, Todd Frazier and Mike Lincoln to the White Sox for Jermaine Dye.

Lineup:
1. CF Taveras
2. 2B Phillips
3. 1B Votto
4. LF Dye
5. RF Bruce
6. 3B Encarnacion
7. SS Zobrist
8. C Hernandez

Who stopped the Dye trade in the first place in the offseason? I heard the Reds vetoed it. If so, what a ridiculously stupid move.

The Sox were asking a lot for Dye.

I read where Dusty is gonna trade two boxes of regular toothpicks for one box of cinnamon tooth picks and a sweatband to be named later.

Wasn;t it Bailey for Dye with us picking up Dye's contract? If so what was Walt thinkning?

Well 12 million + Bailey for 1 year of Dye to me is a lot, but apparently the White sox wanted more than just Bailey.

I dont know exactly what the Sox were asking for for Dye, but it better have been A LOT. Imagine plugging his numbers into this anemic offense. He is hitting .277 with 38 runs, 15 HR, and 39 RBI. And thats in a White Sox lineup that gives him no protection.

John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer spoke to Reds GM Walt Jocketty, who said he's looked outside the organization for help, but "there’s not a lot going on right now." Jocketty also said that the team is not looking for a third baseman, despite reports.

Sounds like the O's are about to make Aubrey Huff and Luke Scott available. The Reds are mentioned as at least being interested.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/06/morosis-latest-orioles-cardinals-rangers.html

Huff would be a FA at the end of the season but Scott would be locked up until 2013 and is having a better year.I'd be happy with Scott but either would be a big help.

travisgrimes
06-14-2009, 08:53 PM
i'd be happy with scott depending on how much we give up... maybe 2-3 mid-level prospects like valaika, viola, and heisey something like that but if we get him we have to go get Derosa which could take a package like frazier, wood, and a PTBNL

Didn't see this posted yet:
"The Marlins have received several calls about Jeremy Hermida, but the offers "haven't been enticing." Sounds like it'll take a good chunk of talent to land the 25-year-old outfielder, who is hitting .276/.373/.421 with eight home runs and 29 RBI in 228 at-bats this season."

Who wants to bet the Reds were one of those calls.
