Also not including the two hits giving up today cause I don't fell like doing the math at the moment, in those starts, he is holding hitters to a .196 AVG If Homer can keep the walks down at the ML level, he will be the pitcher we always wanted

I'm not trying to suggest anything about Homer he is dominating a lineup he should so that's fine. That said I don't think that lineup is a good one for AA let alone AAA. Not one good bat in that lineup. Joey Gathright and Fiorentino are the 2 best and neither can stick in any capacity at the major league level.

Strangely, I agree w/ you. At first blush, I thought pull him, but 2nd thought made me think its probably good for his development to continue to learn to pitch while he's tiring. As long as his mechanics are still in order, run him out there another inning, perhaps 2 if he gets thru the 8th quickly.

It worked out in this case, but it would be nice to give his arm a break every now in then. I just think it is better to err on the side of caution. It is 6-0 so what is the point? I'd rather pull a prospect an inning too early than an inning too late. I'd be willing to wager that a heckuva lot more career got ruined by a guy throwing too many pitches rather than not enough.

That all depends upon what is "pushing" for that specific pitcher. If you're saying it's pushing him to go over 100 then we'll never agree. If his tipping point is 115-120, then I'd say he was right on pace for what he SHOULD throw. Same thing goes for someone like Harang, 115-120 should be thier "100" number.

It is quite a good day. I am not surprised that we are going to break the Cueto in AAA record as we finally have several very interesting pitching prospects working their way through the system. It seems as if we have solid prospects pitching every single day however and we may see this record broken many times over the next few years.

There is a lot of evidence out there to suggest that your injury potential is doubled if not tripled when you consistently pitch over 100 pitches, particularly when you're under 24 years old.

Then you've got 2 well followed prospects on the bump tonight, while the weather outside may be less than ideal (meaning more people inside and around a computer)

May be hard to beat the record that seems inevitable tonight, though it will certainly fall at some point. Today's got a lot working for it, really all its missing is having Leake on the bump for ASU pitching a solid game in the college world series on ESPN for all to see.

I don't know. He was dominant during the summer of 2006 with Chattanooga. He got off to a sluggish start in 2006 with Sarasota, then went on a tear and was promoted to Double-A Chattanooga. In 68 innings with Chattanooga, he had a 1.59 ERA, allowed only 50 hits and posted a 28 BB/77 K ratio. He's pitching great baseball right now but he still has a few dominant starts to go before he reaches his 2006 performance.

Three pitchers, both managers are ejected during a rout of the Dragons

DAYTON — Dragons pitchers J.C. Sulbaran and Andrew Bowman said they weren’t trying to hit Lansing batters Wednesday night, June 17.

Home plate umpire Matt Neuhold decided they were, ejecting each during a 12-7 Lugnuts rout of Dayton at Fifth Third Field in a battle of teams trying to stay out of last place in the Midwest League’s East Division.

While Lansing won, the Lugnuts remained a half game behind the Dragons.

Sulbaran, who is prone to wildness and has not been effective in two starts since being given a nine-day rest by the Reds organization recently, was down 6-2 when Johermyn Chavez led off the fifth.

In his previous at-bat in the third, Chavez drilled a grand slam to left following a triple and two Sulbaran walks.

Sulbaran already led the Dragons with seven hit batsmen this season, and while he didn’t hit Chavez, he did sail his first pitch to him about two feet behind his head.

Chavez pointed his bat at Sulbaran as Neuhold gave Sulbaran the thumb.

“I had a blister on my (index) finger,” Sulbaran said. “That was probably going to be my last inning anyway. I wasn’t trying to hit him.”

Just one inning later — with the Dragons trailing 8-3 — Andrew Bowman, who replaced Sulbaran, hit Justin McClanahan in the back with a 2-2 pitch.

In McClanahan’s previous at-bat, he had smashed a two-run homer off Sulbaran, but it didn’t matter to Neuhold, who immediately tossed Bowman.

“I wasn’t trying to hit a guy during a 9-pitch at-bat,” Bowman said. “The umpire said he had to toss me.”

Not to stand idly by, Lansing pitcher John Anderson hit Kyle Day with the first pitch of the sixth, getting himself and both managers ejected.

A four-run Dragons seventh couldn’t change the outcome of this one.

JCS can't seem to get rid of those blisters. I've never heard of this problem reoccuring so often with one player. What causes this? Is it because the ball is coming off his hand with so much spin?

Josh Beckett used to have a lot of blister issues. Maybe Moises Alou could give him some pointers on roughing up your hands. :D

I think with Beckett he ended up using Krazy Glue on his fingers. I haven't heard of him having a problem with it since he went to the Red Sox.

He had that problem at least one time within the last two seasons. A friend of mine is a RS fan and a huge Beckett fan and she mentioned it a lot when it happened the last time.
