So, not that this season is over, but who else is getting excited about the future of this team? So many great prospects coming up either this year or next. And this will also allow for some decent trades down the line as well. The future looks a lot brighter than it did this time last year.

I am excited about the present. I think they could make a run this year.

Not a big fan of "next year."

Because it'll always be something with this line of thinking. We'll get that spark on offense one year, then middle relief will lose every game in the 8th again. We'll plug middle relief the following year, then defense will go south. Then defense will improve just as starting pitching goes downhill. Then they'll fix starting pitching just in time for the offense to go south. ...and so on.

There is only right now. Either they have the horses or they don't. Right now they don't, but hopefully with Votto, EE, and Volquez returning that will help. Maybe Walt will even sign someone at the all-star break.

But "next year?" Yawn. Between the Bengals and the Reds...been there, done that.

I agree about the "next year" thinking. While I also agree with the original poster that the talent is exciting, you can never count on everything to pan out "next year." This team has so many components falling into place this year (starting and relief pitching) that it will be heartbreaking to waste so many good outings this year on terrible bats. We cant count on the same rotation being healthy and as productive next year. And our relievers arent getting any younger.
