Sarasota plays at 7 PM - Rafael Gonzalez
Louisville plays at 7 PM - TBD
Carolina at 7:15 PM - TBD

TBD can't be on both rosters at once. ;) Anyone know who is going tonight? I've lost track of the rotations with all the movement lately.

Bolivar 2B
Stubbs CF
Heisey LF
Encarnacion 3B
McDonald RF
Rosales 1B
Valaika SS
Miller C
Lehr P

I'd like to see Heisey in RF to see if his arm can do it (the Reds probably already know) and Dorn in LF. AB for McDonald at this point don't help the cause much. Sutton should play 2B. The Reds could actually field a AAA team where all the starters have some type of potential future in MLB. Tatum will probably catch most days.

Anybody know why Wes Bankston hasn't played since June 20? In his previous 10 games he'd hit .300 with 2 doubles and a HR (no walks though) so I don't think it performance related.

Reds are in a good position to trade some guys or trade some of hte ML guys right now. You have to think one of the 2 are going to happen soon.

GOYA

Heisey was in right yesterday.

McD helps the cause of the Bats, but not the Reds. He's actually a pretty good AAA hitter. Sutton should really be at 3B because that's where he might get a shot in the bigs, but with EE rehabing, nothing else matters much. Bolivar can swing a decent bat for AAA but is just filler these days. He also has way too many errors.

I'm warming up to Tatum quite a bit. He's better defensively and is putting good wood on the ball. He just needs to hit 'em where they ain't more.

It'll be interesting to see how Rosie does tonight.

BTW, tomorrow's Bats game will be televised live on the MLB network at 2 pm.

That's what I was thinking, but then he gets promoted to AAA, but as a reliever? I understand wanting to limit his innings, but have they heard of letting him start and only going 5 innings? Or shutting him down early in the year like after the first week of August? Because if they think he's going to be a starter long-term for the Reds, he should be starting right now in AAA, IMO.

Not that it's a big deal, but it's a little bit strange to me. It's like they are trying to overthink the situation. If you think the guy is a starter, let him start.

Went to the Louisville game tonight, and sat 2 rows behind the screen right next to the Bats on-deck circle:

Valaika looked great at the plate. He had 3 hits but his approach was what was really impressive. He only swung at strikes and laid off some tough pitches. His single in the 2nd almost took the pitcher's head off and his 2-run double was a shot over Schafer's head in CF.

Edwin made a great catch on a line drive that I think GOYA mentioned earlier. He wasn't getting too much to swing at and was a little frustrated as he popped up a 3-0 pitch, but he did draw 2 walks I believe. The pitcher also reached back for a few extra mph's on the fastball when he faced Edwin. Also, we asked Edwin if he would be in Cincy this week, and he said he didn't know, although he may have and just didn't tell us.

Lehr has underwhelming stuff (83-87 fastball) but he throws alot of offspeed stuff and the GBraves did not hit him hard at all. If it weren't for a few errors and a lost flyball in the lights, he would not have yielded a run.

Dorn crushed the second pitch he saw for a homer about 410-415 to dead CF. He was upset after he missed a hittable fastball on the first pitch, but he didn't miss the same pitch twice.

The first 2 batters Stewart faced hit line shots although one was caught by Edwin. His fastball was 87-92 tonight, but he lived at the knees, and had great control. He looked a little shorter than 6-2, which I believe is what he is listed at.

Stubbs seemed a little impatient tonight, as he swung very early in the count all 5 AB's. He did drive one to the track in RF, but he wasn't getting around on the fastball.. The Gwinnett starter was throwing 87-92 with his fastball, and bumped it up to 94 a few times for Edwin.

No, earlier reports had him at 91-94 and even touching 96. He may be a little tired or his velo may have just been down tonight. I have noticed some nights Cordero throws 93-94, and others he heats it up at 96-98, so I would not be too worried about his velo being a few mph's lower.

I was just getting ready to comment on Gerson before I read your post. The numbers look pretty good and he's got a projectable body at 6-foot-4 and 175 pounds. He could easily add another 30-40 pounds and add some velocity. I'll be keeping an eye on him.

Yeah, he does it fairly regularly. He just doesn't have the bat speed and for his size, I don't know why. His main muscle mass is in his legs rather than his upper body but he doesn't seem skinny. He tends to hit warning track shots more when he's slumping which always makes me think he is doing something with his swing to try and generate more power but he can't hit for average when he does it. Personally, I wouldn't have any problem with him hitting .310 with a bunch of doubles.
