Cubs beat the Brewers today. A Reds win can pull them to within 1.5 games of the Central Division lead. (1 game behind the hated Los Cardinales)

That is correct. I am hoping that Homer can hold onto the baseball tonight so that we can see that splitter of his.

Willy T has 8 sac bunts, and the REDS lead the NL in sac bunts.

Batting 2nd tonight instead of first, Willy T has a great chance to move someone into scoring position with his bat so that he doesn't have all wasted outs.

Willy T could positively contribute towards two runs tonight by batting 2nd behind Dickerson.

Willy T and Dickerson in the OF is better than Dickerson and Gomes/Nix in the OF.

There's one of those two runs in the 1st as an error by the Cards 3rd Baseman on a bunt by Willy T scores Dickerson. Taveras gets himself thrown out later, but he still contributed to a run already.

Albert Pujols on Homer Bailey:

"Homer Bailey pitched an unbelievable game. He has electic stuff. If he stays healthy, he's going to put up big numbers."From Fay's blog.

There was a 2nd Run yesterday, and there was at least 1 run today. Dickerson and Taveras got on base 5 times today leading to 1 run scored. That is a lineup that can work right now, especially with EE back, as it pushes Hernandez (.200 BA since June) to 8th in the lineup.

Great game today! Owings was solid on the mound and I love that opposing outfielders can't play in on our starting pitcher. Another great day at the plate for Votto. Bruce was excellent, as always, in the outfield. The hustle by B-Phil is just crazy. Loved his trip into the stands!

1.It seems like Bruce is getting a hit just about every game.I really think he is about to catch fire.

2.We have EE back

3.Edison is getting close to coming back

4.The team is playing much better since Votto's return

5.Our 4th and 5th starters just handled the team that is arguably the favorite is our division.

6.I'm convinced that Dickerson is very capable of being a everyday MLB CF

7.Gomes and Nix were very nice pick ups in the off season. Both are above average backup outfielders playing for scraps.

8.Cueto is living up to expectations as a potential ace of the staff.

9.Phillips has shown good plate discipline and have improved his obp dramatically.

10. CoCo has been awesome

11.Masset looks like he could take over as the 8th inning guy this year and possibly the closer roll when CoCo is gone.

12.Roenicke looks like he has closer stuff if Masset doesn't take over for CoCo

AHHHHH....that felt pretty good.Maybe I shouldn't complain all the time.

They should bring Maloney up for a spot start in NY. His fly ball tendencies would play pretty well in that behemoth of an outfield.

Homer twirls another gem tonight as the Reds take game 3. My only hope is that Homer's approach to pitching doesn't change if Howard or Utley take him deep early in the game. The Howards and the Utleys of the world do that to everybody. Just shake it off and go attack the next batter.

Homer pitches tonight :D

The way our pitchers are throwing as of "right now" and how I would rank our chances to win when they pitch, I'd rate our starters in this order:

Owings
Bailey
Cueto
Harang
Arroyo

If I had 10 other pitchers to choose from in the REDS organization, they'd all be ahead of Arroyo.

I don't expect Cueto to pitch poorly in his next start. Before the Phillie implosion, he hadn't given up an earned run in his last two starts. I rank him ahead of Harang because of that, as Harang still tosses homerun balls to 7 or 8 batters every game. They hit a couple of them, hit a couple of them for doubles or triples, and they miss on the others. He takes too many chances. It's his style, but one that doesn't work most of the time the over the last two years.
