How good of a defensive centerfielder must Austin Jackson be if they are switching Drew Stubbs to right?

Prob not that good. It's just that he's a Yankee, so they get their way, right?

Probably just 2 CFs that got voted to ASG and they moved one- I think I remember a MLB ASG a couple years ago where Beltran started in a COF spot.

If you remember the Arizona Fall League, Stubbs and Jackson were on the same team and Jackson was the main CF. I wouldn't consider it a slight to Stubbs. They are both outstanding centerfielders.

BTW, Andy Marte should be starting at 3B instead of Mike Cervenak. Not sure how that happened.

I think they did the same thing in AA and other AS games, he always ends up getting moved to RF or LF.

Not commenting on the merits of his selection, but just wanted to point out that Cervenak is a great guy. Sat with him at a function back when he was at Michigan several years back. Hell, Bobby Scales finally made it to the Show this year, hopefully his infield-mate from the college days can make it now too. I'll be rooting for him.

Over .300 would certainly be a welcome suprise from Stormin' Yorman. Like the patience, too. Power will come. Hopefully. That lack of power is why I think he'll go to Billings next year. Still at least two years ahead of the normal prospect timeline though and on track (assuming he develops power and continues to progress) to see the bigs at 21.

Reds outfield line-up in 3 years with stubbs, heisey, bruce, and maybe votto ( with alonzo pushing votto to OF). What is Heisey's upside?

Jim Callis (2:14 PM)

According to Baseball America, Fellhauer is a very good defender in CF and has a strong arm. Unless someone goes off here in the last two innings, the MVP of the AAA All-Star game will come down to two players: Drew Stubbs or Erik Kratz. Kratz is a 29-year old catcher in the Pirates organization. He's out of the game now but he went 2-for-2 with a double, HR, a walk, and two RBI. Just got back from the game.

Stubbs got hosed on the MVP. He looked like the best player on the field, by far. His dinger was hit very hard, but left field is only 317. I'd give it about 370 at best. He was flat out flying on that infield single. Lehr also looked very good in his innings, a bit more pop on his ball than I expected.

The classic of the night......when Stubbs came up for his 3rd AB, the song was "I'm just a love machine". I'm hoping the players didn't pick the songs? :)

Leads you to believe that maybe Fairel is getting a promotion soon. The rotation is already set with Fairel, Partch, Sulbaran, Janke, and I forget the last one, Bowman? Not sure where Serrano fits in unless someone is moving up to Sarasota.

But then again, I think they've gone to a 6 man rotation in the past, just to limit innings in the 2nd half.

what a great park they have there.

Redesigned and renovated only 6 years ago specifically for minor league baseball, the new mayor ( http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2009/01/first_gay_mayor.html ) is a member of the "Timbers Army", a soccer fanclub, and manipulated a deal to have the baseball team (and Portland State sports) kicked out beginning in 2011, as the stadium will be renovated to support Soccer only (and it's 8 home games a year). There will be no minor league baseball in Portland beginning in 2011.

Two inches? It cleared the wall by a wide margin.

There's just a metal railing above the wall and it would have had to hit that railing to come back in. The Railing only stands about 3-1/2-4 feet high made up of two horizontal posts with a 1-1/2 feet of air between the posts. It couldn't have been much over the wall as it would have gone through to the people.

Not completely accurate. They are trying to find a spot for the AAA Beavers- but the first two proposals (the first was tearing down the old Coliseum in the Rose Quarter, the second was building a new park in the Lents section of the city on the east side) were shot down for various reasons.

They're going to find the Beavs a spot. Merritt Paulson owns both the Beavers and the Timbers, after all.

Frankly, PSU is pretty low on the priority list from all I can gather. I'm sure there's some idea for them given that they just went Division I a couple of years ago.

....all for 8 silly soccer games a year because the Mayor likes soccer. I played college soccer. It's fun to play, but sucks to watch.

It is a beautiful park as it sits right now.

A lot of political maneuverings....the refinancing of the stadium is draining the city, and other funding right now. Getting soccer in there will allow refinancing of bonds, private $, and a much bigger short term financial impact.
Portland will keep the Beavers, several other options have surfaced in the last 10 days.
