View Full Version : Time for Reds to think outside of the box on certain hitters

I just cringed tonight driving home when I heard Fielder hit the 3-run bomb. I know "conventional baseball wisdom" says you don't walk the bases loaded there, but maybe a franchise that has failed so royally for more than a decade should start thinking outside the box a little bit. The next guy up for the Brewers (McGehee?) I have never heard of in my life. But I'd much prefer we pitch to him any day of the week, even with 2 RISP, rather than concede a meat pitch to Fielder.

We keep going right after guys like Berkman and Pujols and Fielder, and they keep destroying us. At what point do you consider a different approach?
