Not only is Wood a monster on the mound, he is also hitting .240. Hes not Micah Owings, but he's a pretty dang good hitting pitcher

If he doesn't move up in the next week, he will never wear a Reds jersey. If he doesn't go up, that means they are padding his stats in AA for an eventual trade.

Or they are carefully moving him through the ranks to make sure he has sustained success at each level. He's still very young.

We don't know this to be true. It's possible the Reds think that certain guys need to stay at the current level this year and move up next year. We just don't know.

With small market finances, the likelihood is that all minor leaguers performing well will stay, because the Reds would have to spend much more in a trade for an established veteran.

In Wood's case, it's really hard to see the Reds trading him. They've had so much trouble developing pitchers it's likely they would keep a young, cheap guy who is succeeding. Unless they just don't predict him to be that good.

It is very interesting to see how they are handling some of these guys. They rushed Bruce through. They were pushing Alonso along when he got hurt -- as soon as he started dominating at High A he was in Carolina.

Yet Frazier and Wood have stayed at AA despite stellar seasons. It took awhile to get Heisey up to AAA despite his total domination of AA.

Seems like they move guys slowly except for the ones they think are true studs.

I wasn't enamored of the Tyler Cline selection, but I have to say that he has been remarkable this year. In five starts in the GCL, his worst has been 6 IP, 2 R. Three of them have been scoreless, including today (6 IP, 1 H). He hasn't had a vast number of Ks, but I'm not going to quibble with a 1.00 ERA and .85 WHIP out of a guy who just turned 19 last month.

Sweet is never going to be a big league manager. Doesn't he know he is supposed to use one of his starters for four or five innings in this situation?

Dorn hit to first and it goes off his glove. Bankston was on 2nd and Sweet sent him home. The first baseman got the ball and threw home and had Bankston by 50 feet but he lost the ball. Bankston bowls him over and comes back to touch the plate.

Walt Jocketty is looking pretty prophetic. Who would've guessed that the Kip Wells signing would have paid off so quickly?

Not only that, but people were quick to criticize the trade for Corky Miller. Now that Ramon Hernandez is on the DL, Craig Tatum is up with the big club, barely leaving the organization with enough catchers.

Wells allowed 9 baserunners in 4 2/3 innings and 4 runs in that same span, if I am reading the above line right. What is good about that?
