Carlton Willey, Doris Barr and Dusty Rhodes caught my eye. Maybe I just missed the Rhodes post here on the Zone...not sure. Anyway, the deaths of non-star players often seem to escape coverage by the mainstream media.

What an interesting site (and one I should avoid, since I really shouldn't make time for one more baseball site!) and a great name that didn't jump out at me in the URL address - The Deadball Era.

Interesting comments from both Willie May and Monte Irvin, particularly Irvin who said the Alabama born Rhodes was like a brother to him and other black players. Mays said he was one of his best friends. It is always heartening to read about white players who helped with the addition of black players into the game.

Yeah, it is an informative site...I check it pretty often.

For reference sake, I should have posted the home page of the site:

That is a good site. I have baseball cards of Woodeshick and Woody Held. I didn't know they had passed. Dusty Rhodes had a good World Series and got some fame for that.
