Volquez says on Reds Live he will pitch to batters Friday at GABP (Fay says that includes Wlad), then go to Louisville and pitch ONE game and be back if all goes well. Thats like having a major trade go down for a top pitcher if he can return to from, which is the big question.

Good news!

This season is over, but if they can get 10 starts out of Volquez from here on out (without any issues) it will be a major step towards getting this club a little closer to where it needs to be in 2010 and beyond.

I'm looking forward to the return of Volquez. I'm not even worried too much about the results, I just want to see him back healthy and ready for 2010 when we really need him.

That's great news! I hope things go well for Edison and that he can get back to the Reds very soon. :)

I want him healthy, not rushed back.

It will good to have him back is he is in form. If he is or not, what difference does it make? The Reds still cannot hit, drive in runs, field or run. Pitching 7 innings of 5-hit 3 run ball still means a loss if you can't score 4. And this team cannot do that.

Who is this Volquez?

I was wondering. I heard the other day that Volquez threw 75 pitches. How do they do that?

Does they treat it like a game? Warm up for a bit, throw 15 pitches, sit down for approx. 1/2 inning, throw 15 more, etc. Or does he just throw 75 pitches in one stretch?

Good question. Plus, throwing to first, walking around the mound, batter stepping out, etc.

Pretty sure they do it like a game. 15 pitches, sit for a bit, repeat.

I hope the FO tells him in no uncertain terms that he won't be pitching competitively in the off-season. Thank the good Lord there is no WBC this year. Methinks the young man just needs to rest up and make gangsta rap videos this winter.
