Last night against the cardinals tie game, runner on third 2 outs. They walk Pujols AND Holliday to load the bases and strike out Ankiel ;)

I saw that, too. Swallow your pride, give yourself a better chance to win. There's nothing "macho" about pitching to Albert Pujols.
Seems like a pretty simple idea. I guess smart just means obvious now.

Why wouldnt a manager walk 2 most dangerous hitters in the line up to set up a force play at every base? Seems pretty simple concept to me.

It is but I mainly put this on here to give another example what an intelligent manager would do in this situation unlike...Dusty ;)

Pretty sure Dusty has done it more than once. I remember him doing it with Weathers on the mound before.

He's the Redzone Hal McCoy. At least according to his own definition of Hal McCoy.
Actually he's a very poor mans "Falls City Beer", with no offense to FCB.
