Who would you rather have Taveras or Patterson

An extra pitcher.

There are three OF spots so why not take both and bring in Juan Pierre too? This franchise is just becoming comic relief anyway so it doesn't make much difference.

Bat them 1 2 and 3, we could have the fastest half innings in baseball!

I don't want either. In fact, I'd rather have a kid in AA or something like that, but I voted for Corey. At least he had pop. But given the choice, I'd just let the RF and LF play and leave the CF on the bench so he won't have to bat (j/k of course).

That would be the obviously decision but this is the Reds were talking about :p:

At least Corey can play defense.

Patterson. He could at least play defense and hit an occasional homer.

Patterson all day every day. As much as I loathed Dusty Patterson Jr., he was head and shoulders above Taveras. Watching Taveras this season has proved to be just as excruciatingly painful as I feared it would be. I wonder how long into next season they'll wait before DFA'ing him? Signing him was a stupid, stupid decision by WJ.

CPatt could at least play actual GG caliber defense in CF. Even Taveras' defense is pretty much a sham.

I'd hate it if Cory Patterson was still in a Reds uniform, but I'd rather have Cory than Taveras.

Patterson is the lesser of the two evils because he plays better defense and has more power.

Where is the Tony Womack option?

As much as it pains me to say so, Pudderson every day of the week.

Of course, that's like being asked if you want kicked in the groin or 5-ironed in the shins repeatedly.

Edit: Looks like the Brewers signed Captain Suck....

Geez! What a choice! That's like asking which would I prefer...a heart attack or a stroke?

5 iron in the shins isn't so bad.

After the first couple of whacks, you get used to it.

What about Ryan Freel? He needs a job doesn't he?

Heck, how about a scrap-tastic out machine lineup of the following:

Taveras CF
Hairston, Jr. 2B
Votto 1B
Patterson RF
Rosales 3B
Freel LF
Hernandez C
Janish SS

With Votto hitting third, that would put the dictum "no man is an island" to the test, wouldn't it?

The real question is, if both of them were on the same team, who would hit leadoff and therefore also leadoff?

Patterson is a top notch defender in CF, has a little bit of power and can run almost as fast as Willy. Under a reasonable manager (not Dusty) who would use him as a 5th outfielder, defensive caddy, pinch runner and occassional 7th place hitter against the mediocre righty here and there he could be a useful player on a major league roster.

All Taveras can do is run. No reason to have that on the roster when there are plenty of fast guys who can do other things.

Wouldn't Paul Bako be a better choice behind the plate? :D

Patterson. He'd be easier to release right now.

Here's one from the way back machine, Joe Hoerner. He couldn't get anyone out as a Red.

As to Willie and CPat, I'll take Dusty's daugher.
