View Full Version : Ryan Freel, DFA'd (again)

The Royals DFA'd our old friend Ryan Freel (as well as Farney) today.

Does anyone think the Reds should pick him up to play CF and lead off for the rest of the season? I would only be for it if Willie T is sent to AAA or DFA'd himself.

That would be kind of kooky to pick up a guy you traded and have him play with the guy you traded him for.

Or sit on the DL with the guy you traded him for.

These questions are so silly and frustrating because we all know that there are 1,500 better options for CF that would be great additions over WT (not directed at you SOL). Unfortunately, the guys in charge don't realize this.

Yet they get paid millions for this.

But then again, it's been just that kind of season.

He stays on a team about as long as he stayed on 1st base before getting picked off.

I love Freel, but no.

Play Sutton everyday, not Freel. Minus whale.

Edit: I mean Stubbs.

Where are the rep points when you need them?

Bite your tongue.

Isn't it amazing that the only team that thought Ryan Freel had any value was the Cincinnati Reds? Even the fans are gullible. Baffles me.

He did have value: we got Ramon Hernandez for him, didn't we?

Guess he is off the 'roids now. Well at least they made him a multi millionair.

Ain't nothing in the world like beating up on a player at the end of his career. For three seasons Freel was the only interesting thing the Reds had not named Dunn. He played with a reckless demand that said "I have to play like this or I'm in the International League!"

He got on base, stole bases and made two of the best defensive plays I have ever seen, and did so at two different positions.

But yeah, ripping on him is pretty funny.

Sorry, not in the mood to rip on a player that actually contributed to reds.

Who's doing that? We're ripping on Ryan Freel.

 Best joke of the year.

There has to seriously be something going on with him. Why did three teams pick him up and then discard him so quickly. They had to have a reasonable expectation of his on the field performance (which wasn't likely to be good). There's probably some off the field or personality stuff going on. Only the Reds are dumb enough to put up with it for several years. Other teams won't tolerate it. (Speculation of course).

Amen to that, I can still see him making both catches. Pujols and the bunt at Wrigley, right?

Remember, it was the Orioles. A franchise as clueless as us.

Did I say that?

Yes on both counts. I never understand trashing a player that actually produced. WT and his ilk are one thing, but Freel just needed a body that could withstand his style of play. He was damn fun to watch.
