PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates and Cardinals endured a 10-minute daily in the bottom half of the seventh on Friday after a fan sustained a head injury when he fell onto the field at PNC Park.

With the game tied at 4, a fan wearing a Cardinals shirt and seated in the first row along the right-field line lunged for a foul ball that came his way. The man lost his balance, however, and flipped over the protective railing and onto the field. He landed on his face.

Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols and Pirates first-base coach Perry Hill immediately signaled for medical help when the man did not get up after falling. A medical crew placed him in a neck brace and eventually carted him off the field. Both Pujols and Hill stayed by his side through the ordeal.

Pirates president Frank Coonelly and other members of the organization's front office also went on to the field to survey the situation. A companion of the injured man left the field with him.

I wonder if they will still prosecute him.

If he just fell reaching for a ball.... Why would they prosecute him?

Because he's a Card's fan.
