I haven't heard anything about either in forever. Are they done for the year at this point?

I'm more concerned about Bruce coming back, because Hernandez doesn't have a longterm future with this ballclub. I just want to see Bruce get some time out there so that we have a slightly better understanding what we have to work with next year. Obviously, it's really hard to gauge the progress of a player in these COMPLETELY meaningless games, but still, I can't wait to see him back to see part of the future for 2010 and beyond.

I don't think the Reds were in any hurry to get Hernandez back, but with Hannigan going down I wonder if that might light a fire under them to get him back on the roster.

Bruce I'd like to see if he's ready, but I'd hate to do any more damage becasue you rushed him back to get a look. I wouldn't mind if me maybe played some winter ball this year.

BRUCE UPDATE: Jay Bruce is getting close to being able to swing a bat. “It’s going to be soon,” he said. “I can’t tell you exactly when.”

Bruce hopes to return from his broken right wrist by early September.

“I’ve gotten a lot more rigorous with the rehab,” he said. “The strength is back. It’s going great, everything is coming along fine.”

No rush...the season's in the trash. No rush at all.

I don't think Jay should come back this season

It's August 26th and he's not even swinging a bat yet.

There is no point in rushing him

Rushing him? It's been almost 2 months. That isn't rushing him thats a normal to long timetable for return with that injury. Rushing him would have been 4 weeks people.

And then? Plenty of guys have injuries drag on (see EE). Either way, unless he's 100%, I don't want to see him on the field.
