Just on a personal note,I brought back from my mothers house last winter, some old boxes of things from when I was still living at home. In it were all my old report cards from 1st through 12th grades. On the 1st grade report card it had the start and end dates of the school year. The first day was on this date in 1969. Can't believe that's been 40 years since I started school.
Also it looks like the Cubs had started their classic 1969 meltdown.
