Don't remember being this pumped about a Bengals game in awhile. Should be a good game but I think the Bengals can squeek out a win against the defending Super Bowl Champs. Carson Palmer will however have to play a near perfect game as I think Ced will be slowed down some this week.

Time to see where this team truly is.

Prediction 20-17 Bengals WIN!

I'm having a hard time saying this, but I think the Bengals could win if they get some breaks. Obviously, the Steelers defense is not the same right now without Polamalu, but give that club a few weeks to adjust and they'll make some changes to compensate. The Bengals might be lucky enough to get to them before they've had a chance to fully regroup.

Bengals D comes up big. Steelers will score only 10.

I also foresee a 15 yd unnecessary roughness penalty against Rivers, and I can't wait.

Only if they realize....quickly...that if they cannot run the ball, they need to pass...pass...pass. Short passes...medium range. Pick up the blitzes and you can pass on the Steelers. Get some big plays from special teams.
Get Huber to channel Ray Guy and coffin corner the Steelers into bad field position.

I resemble that remark...

The Steelers D without Troy plays different, it just can't make as many plays. I think as long as the Bengals can control the run (which they should be able to do as the Steelers have not been able to figure out a running game yet) and play smart (avoid dumb penalties, etc), they should win the game.

I see a Bengals win 20-17.

The Bengals find new ways to embarrass on a seemingly weekly basis.

The Steelers catch balls in traffic with defenders on them. The Bengals flinch away from contact and miss balls.

The Bengals better make this a scoring drive and slow down some of the Steelers momentum, or this might get really ugly.

I loved the playcalling on the drive after the Pick Six. Bratkowski has no freaking idea what he's doing. The swing pass to Coles (which he incredibly did not drop) was just vintage.

It's amazing, the talent is clearly there with this team but the coaching is just amateurish.

Great game. I know the coaching was criticized but they did a great job of sticking with the run and it paid off in the fourth quarter. This looks like a different Bengals team than years past. I just knew that Palmer was going to throw an INT or get sacked on that final drive but he hung in there and made good decisions. And to convert to 4th downs to win the game was impressive.

Now excuse me while I go put a grand in the Browns to win next week. That's what the Bengals generally do following a win like this. As odd as it may sound, it will be next week against a BAD Browns team that we'll see if things are really different.

I was thinking in the third quarter that the Bengals were squandering their run game. Still think they need to use it more, but I was impressed with their ability to get those do or die first downs late in the game.
And that spike with :47 left seemed like a critical error to me, but they showed something in keeping the drive alive on four downs. It was a good win for them and I'm pretty impressed that the defense is looking a lot tougher.

Listened to this one on the way home from an Indians game, gave up on our chances when we stopped to pee in Mt. Vernon. I'm so glad I was wrong. Watching the highlights, Lima Sweed left two TDs on the field.

Next week, with the Clowns self destructing after just 3 weeks almost guarantees the upset, doesn't it? I heard on one of the Cleveland stations that five players had filed grievances against Mangini. Hopefully, the boys will focus and take care of business.

Yeah, like Joe Montana was going to send us a thank you card for Lewis Billup's dropped INT in the Super Bowl.

There are countless what-ifs, including the "if that ball would have dropped in any other direction other than Brandon Stokely's we'd be 3-0."

You had to go and bring up Lewis Billups. I'm trying to block that from my memory. That could be the single biggest what-if of all time in the NFL as far as significance and the probability that the play should have happened. It hit him dead in the chest and any NFL DB catches that 90% of the time. But almost no one outside Cincinnati has any recollection of that play.

I thought he was done for the day at that point. The defense was much sharper, the offense started moving the ball, and Carson made some awesome plays to help the Bengals pull off the win. I was sitting in the endzone area away from the river side and I had more Bengals fans around me than Steelers fans (I had a Steeler fan sitting next to me but he turned out to be a very nice guy so we had fun chatting through the game). The Benson TD was in the endzone right in front of me and the TD and 2 point conversion to win the game were also in that endzone so my section was going nuts. I actually have written longer paragraphs here! I thought that one was pretty tame for how excited I've been since I got home from the game, LOL  And for the record, I didn't really hear any fans talking smack to the Steelers fans as we were leaving the stadium (although they were talking a lot of smack to us before the game). We were all just stoked for the Bengals to win and kept shouting WHO DEY and high fiving each other on the way out. It was excitement for the comeback more than anything and I don't think any fans in the crowd suddenly thought we erased our entire history in this one win. I think it will take a lot more than one win to do that, LOL ;)

I love this quote from Carson from this article (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap;_ylt=AlxctFGSC1MhediNwjSyqQlDubYF?gid=200909 27004) at Yahoo Sports. :)

“Indescribable,” said Palmer, who was 20 of 37 for 183 yards. “The fans wanted it as much as we did, and it felt great to see those hands go up signaling a touchdown and hear them roar.”

We were pretty excited in that fourth quarter! I'm glad the guys felt that too. :D

This is a fun team, I'm going to try not to give up on them again this season, because I was really close to throwing in the towel and finding something else to do right before the faked punt in the third quarter.

Feels like a different bunch this year, any other Bengals team in the past 20 years would have laid down after that first quarter and probably lost by five+ touchdowns.

The Bengal's offense just seems to be having flashes of brilliance, but they have to start putting it together earlier in the game. Carson still has the ability of an elite QB, but missing almost an entire season really hurts. I'm confident that he'll put it back together this season. The question is are the missed passes early in the game the fault of Carson, or the WRs? They have some things to figure out, but they're on their way. Pittsburgh is not the same this year, but it's great to beat them.

When the defense shut the Steelers out in the 2nd quarter, I knew something was different. The Steelers looked awfully tired about midway through the third. I wasn't sure of the outcome, but I knew the tide had turned in the game and that the Bengals had weathered the best the Steelers had to give.

That's what I saw. In the first half, the Steelers offense line pushed the Bengals D-line 3-4 yards off the ball every play and the Steelers D-line was getting serious penetration against the Bengals O-line. Not sure what happened at halftime, but the second half was fairly even in the trenches. It was almost like the Steelers said in the second half, "We're the Steelers, they are the Bengals, we always win these games" and then proceeded to go through the motions for the final two quarters...

For the money, the Caldwell/Coles combo has been very productive. Losing Housh was disappointing, but in the end, the Bengals will be OK despite that.

If the Bengals can manage to go downfield to Ochocinco and Henry a bit more often, the offense will begin to look better and better as the season goes on, IMHO. Palmer is still shaking off the rust, I think. But the line is better and he's making plays when he needs to. I really think they have all the tools they need to be a great team this year. It's a matter of doing.

I really dont miss Housh at all. He started to turn into a big baby the last couple of seasons. He was the biggest bad apple on that team in my mind, although Andrews probably wasnt that far behind.

Does Cleveland sell out these days? I wonder what the percentage of Bengals fans will be in the stands this weekend.

T.J. is an interesting creature. He's obviously good at putting his foot in his mouth, but you can't accuse him of not speaking his mind. I know he didn't have the best family life growing up, and it seems to have had an effect on him. I don't dislike the guy, he just says some things that get him into some bad situations. He was lucky to be on some good offensive teams until last year, but I still thought he would do better than he has in Seattle thus far. I don't think many Bengals fans were happy with the way he left, but I don't think many people, other than those who didn't follow the Bengals regularly, thought he'd be missed much.

All in all, I don't think the Bengals are going to need to worry about WR depth.

I think that video guy was sitting somewhere off to my left and pretty close to where I was sitting on Sunday! Somehow it doesn't seem as loud on the video as it was in person ;) but that's still an awesome video and a great example of how CRAZY the stadium got when they scored that last TD and 2 pt conversion! :jump:

The one I think I HATE about being a Bengals fans is the whole "Who-Dey" thing. It's just dumb..... in my opinion of course.

I think Who-Dey is kind of cool, but what's stupid (imo) is how often people use it.

It was a big thing when the Bengals actually were competing during the 80's. It's our version of the "terrible towel" or the "cheese heads".

I just want to see "the Jungle" rocking again, and Sunday was a great example.

I like it when done as a whole chant. Just Who Dey is overused greatly.

The best part is when you see the look on the Steelers fans' faces. I'm not one to knock other fanbases, but that look has been on my face more than once because of the Cincinnati teams I root for. Especially after the Broncos game a few weeks ago. I feel for them, I really do, but its still hillarious. I'm sure there was plenty of trash talking by some of those Steeler fans before that drive. Then its like, "Oh crap, we're gonna lose to the Bengals."

One thing I hate is the people waving orange towels. Let the Steelers have their own thing. If there is one thing I can't stand it is that. We have Who Dey (like it or not), they have the terrible towel. It'd be one thing if they were mocking it for one game, but half those people probably wouldn't even equate the terrible towel to the Steelers. You can buy them at Krogers and these fans have them at every game, not just games against the Steelers. Just so annoying.

I agree with the Who Dey thing..... I loved having "Welcome to the Jungle" as the theme for this team during the late 80's...but by 1993....any sort of chant just seemed real lame and almost joke like.....like when TBS had "America's Team" for the Braves intro from 1986-1990...and they were the worst team in baseball.

Only four?

Heck, for me it is about 32 minutes (twice watched it almost four times in a row). Ha!
