I'm assuming he wants to accomplish what he did last year: ride this minor league deal into a spot on the MLB opening day roster.

If he does not make the opening day roster due to the possible logjam in the outfield (if everyone is looking good-not a bad problem to have), would he go into FA similar to what Jacque Jones and Daryle Ward did last year?

This means that Nix will play LF and Gomes will not be back. IMO Dickerson will split time with Stubbs in center........ Yayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!

A .291 OBP last season and .277 for his career. He's a good candidate not only to make the team, but to move up in Dusty's batting order.

Title should read: Nix's back. Doesn't he have chronic back problems?

And I'd thought we ridded ourselves on him.

I guess you could do worse then Nix as far as #6 OF go, if that's all he is (along with pinch-hitting duties). But if he's playin as much as he did this year, it's probably not a good thing.

Now why in the world would we rid ourselves of low obp free swingers?

i think this gives us room to package dickerson onto a trade with one of arroyo or harang to bring a better package back

Why is Nix back?

Where will Dickerson, Heisey, Balentien and Frazier (if he dominates AAA) get at-bats?

Gomes was 10 times the better player last year. You couldn't get him for $1M more?

The bottom line is that Nix sucks and shouldn't be on a Major League roster.

He's the kind of guy you pick up in July off the waiver wires because there's a million just like him. Lot's of supply, little demand.

you're talking about a team that had darnell mcdonald as its opening day starting CF, and signed corey patterson and willy taveras. shouldnt be that surprising at this point

As long as he doesn't take at bats away for CD, this is good move to have a left handed bat with pop and good defense off the bench.
