Thank you for a wonderful career.

I enjoyed watching every minute of it.

See you in five years at Cooperstown.

Most definitely. Seemed like a great guy, and was most certainly one of the greatest pitchers of all time. Enjoy retirement. Maybe he'll decide to coach?

Let's get Brett Favre to talk him out of retirement and sign with the Reds for $2M next season. ;)

What hat do you think will be on his plaque in 5 years?

What hat do you think will be on his plaque in 5 years?

No-brainer.

It's a Mariners hat, especially if The Big Unit got to choose.

That's what I think, but he did win his World Series with the D-backs. Not to mention the many milestones that he reached while in the Snakes jersey, including the 20 K game against Villone and the Reds.

That would be more impressive if it had been against a majpor league roster.

I was channel surfing one night and came across a game he was pitching. It was like the 4th or 5th inning and the announcer made a comment going to commercial that Johnson had yet to give up a hit. (Usually the last thing one would want to say, especially to the pitcher.) I thought, well it is Johnson, I will stay with this game. Sure enough it was his first (and I think only) no hitter. Glad I didn't change the channel. A truly dominant pitcher even while pitching during the steroid era.
