Time for a hitter! Post your prediction on how you think Wladimir Balentien will do in 2010. Use any stats you wish. I'll compile the results and (attempt to) generate an "average" result for everyone to mock, deride, praise and engage in "I told you so-ism" one year from now. I'll try to put up one player every couple of days which should get us close to spring training.

Note: I'm trying to make the spreadsheet show calculated stats in italics.

Note 2: for role players, platooners and 25th men (the Reds have about 9-10 of them!) please try and project PAs/ABs as well if you have the wherewithall.

Here we go:

43 PA, .205 BA, .240 OBP, 5 HR, 14 RBI, 10 K

I'll think he'll be used in a very limited role with all the OFs here, and will not do very well.

Come on, no projections in 15+ hrs. We can do better!

I like the addition of Wladmir, and I think he's got a better shot than any of our minor leaguers to platoon with Dickerson in LF. However, Wlad is a RH that hit's LHP worse than RHP. That buggers the idea of platooning with Dickerson. Perhaps Heisey will make the team? In any case, 300 ab's sounds about right. Dusty seems to do pretty well with getting a lot from his players, and Wlad will be 25-26 years, so plenty of power could surface:

300 ab's
.270 avg
16 HR
19 2b
.335 obp
.465 slg

I think he will get some opportunity to play and I hope he does. I think .256, 12 HR 36 RBI, and 4 steals is attainable

I am not sure he even makes the team.

.217 batting average
4 HRs
130-150 at bats
18 RBI
Having said that, I'm not so sure he makes it the entire season with the Reds. It seems likely that if the Reds struggle, moves will be made opening roster spots and playing time for prospects. Even 150 Abs might be a high estimate. After all, Stubbs, Bruce, Dickerson, Nix, Taveras if he is on the team all are ahead of him for playing time in my opinion.
