They've been doing their homework.

"Reds signed shortstop Orlando Cabrera to a one-year, $3 million contract.

In a clever bit of accounting, Cincinatti paid for roughly half of Cabrera's salary by dumping Willy Taveras' corpse on Oakland and taking the negligible utilityman talent dropoff from Adam Rosales to Aaron Miles. Cabrera's deal also contains a $3 million mutual option for 2011 with a $1 million buyout. He will start at shortstop and probably bat second for the Reds, providing a nice upgrade over Paul Janish. Cabrera, 35, batted .284/.316/.389 last season with nine home runs and 77 RBI in 656 at-bats between the A's and Twins."

One of the pillars of Bakermetrics.

Well if he can OPS over .700 versus RHP, he's already in the running to be the third best starter on the team in that regard.

If he can OBP over .330 v RHP he's likely to be better than Rolen and BP.

That's how sad our team is against RHP.

Yeah. I love Rotoworld. They definitely "get it". Especially with the football side of things. They get their "digs" in whenever they can. G.M.'s, Owners, Managers and Coaches should all be embarrassed when given the opportunity. Lord knows, it doesn't happen enough by the hometown writers, understandably, as they have to live with them on a daily basis.

You can tell the Oakland A's are all about Bakermetrics by the speed with which they DFA'ed Taveras. Never ever underestimate the importance of organizational speed.
