Aaron Boone retired today. When I see him I always think of the opening of the current stadium. That got me thinking of who is left from our "up and coming" team from 2003. Here is the opening day line up:

1) B.Larkin SS
2) A. Boone 2B
3) K. Griffey CF
4) A. Kearns RF
5) A. Dunn LF
6) S. Casey 1B
7) B. Larson 3B
8) J. LaRue C
9) J. Haynes P

Wowzas

I like that line-up.

if only we would have had the pitching we have now back then.

I wouldn't mind having the #5 hitter from 2003 as the #5 hitter in 2010

Really?!!?!?!?

Jimmy "freakin" Haynes. He was our opening day starter in 2003. WOW. we were bad.

Larson was the biggest bust since the .com bust.
I never cared for LaRue. I often wanted to send him on the road packing.
Aaron Boone was over rated and got more credit due to the fact "Cincinnati loved the Boones".

I really did think Kearns and Dunn would be here for a long time. But I like Votto and Bruce better and i feel better about being a Reds fan now than a Nationals (Dunn) fan or and Indians (Kearns) fan.

We were sold on that year as the year the reds would return to a National League Power. We were supposed to be a dynasty again, now here we are 7 years later, only Harang left from that team here, and we are talking about a new crop of young talent. I like us now, better than us then, even with 2 future "Hall of Famers" on that team. And I don't mean Dunn.
