One thing the Reds have been doing well over the last few years is to bring the greats from their past in as guest coaches and instructors.

Eric Davis now works for the Reds. Some of you remember Davis. Some of you are old enough to remember how good he really was. Thomas Boswell put Eric Davis in The Heart of the Order. A great book, one I keep in my office. I read pieces of it every ST, and always read the Eric Davis section first. Davis was an amazing talent that the baseball gods conspired against. A good kid, friend to Darryl Strawberry, but he was the Anti-Straw... never hinted to be in trouble. Davis was a fantastic hitter, base stealer, and one of the better defensive CF's I have ever seen.

Really, if you haven't read The Heart of the Order, it's worth a look.

Heart of the order is good, But time starts on opening day is even better.

I'll have to look that one up. Heart of the order was given to me by a good friend and avid, rabid Cardinal's fan. Taught me the importance of OBP over BA back in 1990/1991. I argued forever that BA was more important.

But i really just love Heart of the order. Boswell is a very good writer.
