Indians pitcher Jeremy Sowers has been placed on waivers, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Rosenthal says the lefty is a candidate to be released.

So, while i'm glad the Reds didn't sign him, I'm still ticked they punted by drafting him in the first place.

Drafting can be so uncertain. Sowers was the Indians 1st round choice (6th overall) in 2004, after never signing with the Reds after they drafted him in the 1st round of the 2001 draft.

Baseball America had him rated as highly as the Indians #2 propsect in their 2006 prospect guide....

Amen. Even though they haven't righted the ship just yet, we're a long way from that sort of thing.

This guy? I wouldn't mind having him. At worst, he's a good trading chip.
