Every other commercial break seems to be a commercial for this movie. It stars Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise. It comes out June 25! Why are they advertising it so heavily right now?

I haven't seen a single ad for it yet. What channel is it being shown on constantly?

Two actors on the wrong side of their career arcs, economy still in the pits, studio doesn't want to take a bath on it--though I doubt complete immersion in promos is going to do a bit of good.

Indeed, it is everywhere.

To name one, FOX. USA network too, maybe.

Cartoon Network, Fox, FX, ESPN, USA, TNT, ESPN 2, SoapNet, Comedy Central, I am sure there are more.

I first started noticing the advertising for it Monday. I think it may have even been on during Lost last night, but don't hold me to that.

Sandwiched in between Toy Story 3 (6/18) and Twilight: Eclipse (7/2) in the middle of summer. There's a very good chance this film never "wins" a weekend at the box office.

They're probably thinking they need to make back at least 50% of their production budget on the opening weekend to have a chance at breaking even. Hence, the heavy advertising blitz.

After seeing 1.7M trailers for "The Backup Plan" durning NCAA tournament coverage I might never notice another trailer again.

FWIW I've heard that Knight and Day is supposed to be really good.

I just saw it for the first time on Fox Soccer Channel. And the second. :D

I can't remember the last time I saw a Tom Cruise movie I cared about. But the previews for this make it look very good. If the movie is as good as the preview this might be a big hit.

Not a Tom fan., but "Risky Business" is still one of my all-time favorite movies.

Many times when a studio has what they know is a huge turkey, they'll spend money on an extensive advertising campaign. hoping that they'll at least get a big first week out of the film before word of mouth kills it. I believe it's called "fourwalling". That may be what's at work here...
