Aroldis Chapman will make his professional debut in Ohio, but it'll be up the road in Toledo, not in Cincinnati.

Chapman is scheduled to start for the Class AAA Louisville Bats in the team's fourth game of the season, one week from Sunday, April 11 at Fifth Third Field, according to Bats manager Rick Sweet.

The Bats' rotation should start with Sam LeCure, followed by Travis Wood, Matt Maloney, Chapman and Justin Lehr.

BTW, the longest minor league game thread in Redszone history is 224 posts, on June 17th of 2009 when Homer Bailey threw eight shutout innings in a game against Norfolk. What's the chances of the game thread on Sunday breaking the previous high of 224 posts? I'm going to say the chances are pretty good. I'll be watching the Reds game on TV and at the same time following Chapman's first start.

Wow, I just remembered that will be the day Mike Leake makes his major league debut. With Chapman and Leake both pitching that day, it's probably going to be very busy around here. Should be fun.

If the starting pitchers for the REDS not named Leake or Chapman pitch anything like their last Spring starts, the REDS could be looking for their 1st Win of the season.

Well this sucks. I figured the Reds would throw us a bone and let Chapman start in Columbus, as either the #1 or #5 of the staff. I live in C-Bus, and the Bats come for a 2 game series, and according to the lineup, I miss Maloney, Chapman, and Wood, and get to see Lehr and LeCure, Yippee!

My guess would be no. IIRC that game was a mid-day work week game, while Homer was on a series mean streak pitching and the hype was high. No doubt that Chapmania is as big, and probably bigger than Homermania at that time, but I would think a sunday afternoon thread would limit the amount of posts. Probably lots of review posts either way, but I doubt there will be much batter by batter, inning by inning commentary as people will have other things going on and won't be around a computer as much as they would be sitting in an office or out of school in the middle of the summer.

yea man you arent really missing much considering most of the video quality for teams is a kin to a mid 90s home video recorder.

Its not always that bad. But for $30 a year you can watch 1000 games. Its the best deal in sports.

I just find it much harder to watch. Im being cheap but just getting the audio is just as good.

I can't accept that the audio only is just as good as getting video with the audio, even if its not always the best, it is still pretty good for the internet.

The Louisville Bats have had familiar names, big stars and top prospects before. They haven't had a baseball luminary quite like Aroldis Chapman.

The Cuban defector is arguably the most eagerly anticipated player the Triple-A franchise has had on its roster. Manager Rick Sweet and outfielder Chris Heisey called Chapman “special.” General manager Dale Owens said his team hasn't had another player of this caliber.

In Sunday's start, Chapman will be limited to 75-85 pitches.

Speaking of Louisville, the Bats have a pretty formidable five-man rotation this season. After Thursday starter Sam LeCure, it has 2009 Reds Minor League Pitcher of the Year Travis Wood
