View Full Version : Who the heck is Doug Fister?

He's throwing a 3-hit, no-walk shutout at the Oakland A's right now through 8 innings.

His scouting report makes him sound like a poor man's Aaron Harang: big build (6'8), fastball in the 86-90 mph range, below average change and curve. Relies on his control due to lack of stuff. Not too exciting to read after seeing that box score.

They were 3 singles and he threw 71 of 100 pitches for strikes!

Nice. Maybe the M's found their #3 Starter. At least their #5.

Right now, they don't even have a #2.

Fister's last start had him giving up 9 baserunners in 4.0 IP. But, they were 5 singles, 1 double, 2 walks, and one IBB. So, he only gave up the 2 runs.

I like interesting stories, and this one is very interesting.

The A's have Adam Rosales in their lineup.

That explains that.

Mr. Fister is my new favorite player. I should get a jersey of his.

There's something not right about the name Fister that would prevent me from wearing that on the back of a jersey.

This is wrong, just wrong haha

Rosales was hitting .600 last time I looked (going into the game).

Saw him in a bad 80's porn I think

Biggest story so far of this young season has got to be Pitcher Colby of Texas.

10 K performance last night after a brilliant 1st start.

Survived the abyss that is Japan, and came out stronger.

Texas will be a contender for the whole season because of him.

It's also not a fluke.

Colby had great potential and I wanted the REDS to trade for him years ago. Injuries and wildness (mostly the wildness) carved his path towards Japan. These were the days when we had Jimmy Haynes, so someone with Colby's upside would have been well worth the risk.

I'm glad to see him doing so well.

Fister is taking a no-no into the 7th against the O's right now.

And as I post that Markakis gets a single.

This kid is the real deal.

Congratulations to the Mariners.

Eric Bedard is supposed to be back before May 1st. Cliff Lee will follow him shortly. Ryan Rowland-Smith just threw a great outing.

They are going to have one formidable starting rotation.

It will start happening for the REDS.

We will have a final win total in the 80's this year (but that means we'll have a loss total in the 70's).

Shouldnt fister always be a no-no? I make jokes cause I have nothing good to say about our own pitchers right now.

6 weeks later and Fister leads the American League in ERA at 2.03. 2nd is 2.37.

I saw him in spring training at a couple games I went to. The Giants lit him up and the Reds took him out in a game. Then here he is ripping it up.
