Just looked at the Louisville weather forecast, the weather looks great so they should have no problem getting this game in.

Louisville - 2:05 - LHP Aroldis Chapman

Carolina - 6:15 - RHP Daryl Thompson

Lynchburg - 2:00 - LHP Travis Webb

Dayton - 7:00 - RHP Jacob Johnson

Really wish I could go to Dayton tonight. Would have been a good day for baseball to watch Chapman, then head up and watch Johnson. Going to have to catch his next start at home for sure.

It is a nice night for pitching. Lots of intrigue for each guy tonight.

Agreed. Jacob Johnson is an under the radar guy. With a strong showing in Dayton this year, he could become a legitimate guy to watch.

I've read quotes from Chapman where he said the first inning is always his worst and he gets stronger as he goes on. Hopefully that's true today.

I think it should be clear (if it isn't already) that both Maloney and Wood should be ahead of him on the lefty call-up list. Chapman shouldn't be considered for the bigs until the ASB at least.

Lead off four pitch walk to the #7 hitter. The stuff is obviously there but he needs to work on his control, but we knew that. He's so fun to watch/follow. I hope the Reds are patient with him but I look forward to the day when he's in Cincy.

Wouldn't this lead one to believe he should have a longer warmup period during pre-game?

After a rough first inning that resulted in 30 pitches, he was much more efficient in his final four innings as he threw only 57 pitches.

Basicallly I see it like this.... his stuff is going to be very hard to handle when guys swing at it, but right now, he couldn't get major leaguers to swing at it nearly enough to make it 5 innings game in and game out.

Agreed, that's why I'd promote both Maloney and Wood before Chapman. If he can harness his command over the next couple months, he should probably get a late summer opportunity, perhaps after Harang or Arroyo is traded at the deadline.

The race is on between Rojas and Gregorious for SS prospect of the future. Anybody care to pick a specific horse in this race?

I think Henry Rodriguez should still be in that discussion too. He and DiDi can't both play SS in Dayton, so DiDi is.

I tend to agree. I've never been a big buyer of Rojas- while his glove is great, he reeks of Rey Olmedo, Paul Janish, Gookie Dawkins, and every other slick-fielding Reds SS prospect that cannot hit at the big league level. Let's hope that Gregorious, Hamilton, and/or Valor can buck that trend if Cozart can't.

Here's to hoping Henry Rodriguez is more Brandon Phillips than William Bergolla.

On Chapman:

"It was interesting to see him deal with not having his best stuff," said Sweet. "He worked slower early in the game. There's no doubt he's special. He just needs to learn to command his stuff."

"I worked with my offspeed stuff really well today," Chapman said. "I mixed up my changeup and fastball. A lot of fans came to see me pitch today. I feel proud about that."
