Been a while since I think since we've had this thread. List some of your favorite players in the MLB who aren't on our team, or guys you just root for, for one reason or another. Feel free to include former Reds though.

For me:

Zack Grienke
Huston Street
Chipper Jones
Clay Zevada
Ricky Romero
Vladimir Guerrero
Ichiro
Cliff Lee
Ryan Rowland-Smith
Evan Longoria
Justin Duchscherer
Adam Dunn
Ryan Braun (probably the only in-division guy on my list, he's just too damn good)
Josh Willingham
Michael Cuddyer
Jeremy Guthrie (I started rooting for the guy when he was struggling with the Indians, and I was disapointed we didn't pick him up when the Orioles did)
Adrian Gonzalez
Chris Young (Padres)

Pujols (real stretch here, but I picked him up as a waiver claim in my fantasy keeper league when he was in A-ball, and he's anchored my team ever since)

I'm a pretty big Rockies fan and Carlos Gonzalez is going to be a superstar. He basically does everything well. Ubaldo Jimenez is getting some national pub from his no-hitter, but he's always been easy to root for.

Favorite to watch: Ichiro, Torii Hunter

Hmm, I tend to like guys for different reasons so I'll just list guys who aren't obvious types. But besides these guys I tend to like the guys who seemingly do everything gracefully (Larkin, Roberto Alomar Jr., Josh Hamilton, Ichiro are the best examples) and/or the classy hardworking blue collar stars (Ripken, Utley, Jeter, O-Dog, Ryan Zimmerman etc). Just a few off the top of my head.

Kevin Millar (that guy would be a blast to hang out with)
Jeremy Affeldt (has a great sense of humor)
Craig Counsell (the guy is just a gamer and tends to play above his head always)

I met Kevin Millar at a spring training game when he was with the Orioles and he couldn't have been nicer. He spent a lot of time signing autographs and talking to the fans. I think he's just a really great guy. I hope to see him coaching somewhere if he doesn't end up playing with another team this year (I don't think he made the Cubs club this year and as far as I know, he wasn't picked up by anyone else yet either).

I'm pretty fond of Granderson at the moment. I'm always quite taken with about a hundred random players at a time, though.

This Jason Heyward kid is just amazing to me. I might just have to catch the Braves when they come to Cincinnati at the end of July just to see this kid hit in person. He's the kind of bat you pay to see. There aren't many like that anymore.

Just looking at people from our fan base who are starting to become fans of Jason Heyward, it's not out of the realm of possibility that this kid gets voted to the All Star game this season at age 20.

Add me to that list. I was heartbroken when he was selected a couple picks before us in the 2007 draft. (Although truth be told, I liked Matt Dominguez just as much. Doh!)

not every past Reds but those are guys I pull for as long as their success in no way hurts the current Reds team.

I'm really pulling for EE.I know at some point Marty said during an off season radio shows that Edwins career was over because of the fire work accident he had.Something about how he would only have vision out of 1 eye or something like that.Just looked to find out how he's doing.3 Es so far(big surprise) but has gone deep.Overall not off to a great start.
