It's amazing nothing more could be done for Esasky's vertigo. With all the medical knowledge you would think their could be something to remedy this. I had a case of vertigo about a year after this in 1991. The doctor said it was probably caused by a sinus infection and it was easily treated with some pills. I'm sure Esasky's was more a chronic condition.

It was a fun team to watch. Big boppers galore that season and what could have been for Wayne Simpson.

What happened to Simpson? Was it an elbow or shoulder injury? I can't remember now.

Also 1970 was hardly a hitters era like it is today. Imagine those players in todays hitters friendly game.

Thanks! Quite a revealing article. I see it was written in 1981. Does anyone know if his arm or hand got any better? It stated in the article his hand might have to be amputated because of no circulation.
Much of the questioning of his arm injury at the time was similar to J.R. Richard's injury later in the early 80's. No one could find anything wrong and were wondering if he was just lazy until he had that debilitating stroke.

That club had three legitimate #4 hitters in Perez, Bench, and May.
