This is just so bad that ump needs to be reprimanded.

Clearly the wrong call but you're making another wrong call by assuming you can read the ump's mind.... "I want to go home 'coz I hate it when water touches my skin so I'm gonna go ahead and cheat and call the guy out even though I know he's safe....nobody will know, he-he.."

Payback for the Don Denkinger call.

Wow. That's one of the most clearly wrong calls I've seen in a long while. It wasn't even a bang-bang, quick play. It was a slow lob to the 2nd baseman. That ump should be suspended for that.

That is hilarious. Every single announcer says SAFE before the call is even made. HILARIOUS!

Hey at least it wasn't us???

I would have lost it if that would have happened to us.

I was just joshing but he does need to be reprimanded. I think that is the Ump that made that homerun call of the ball that bounced off the warning track.

I'd pay 10 bucks to hear Marty make that call.

I hate umps.

Do your job, or find a new one. Im just happy that wasnt us.

The ump however clearly knew that he just screwed up big time. He turned away and started walking immediately.

I had an ump admit to me one time he was ready to go home and have some of his wifes diner and sweet tea. I was a catcher, and he said it several times during our game, and then made an obvious bad call in the last inning. I had told my coach about it, and he wasnt happy. When he made another obvious "I am ready to go home so that looked like a strike call", I turned quicky knocking into him and down to the ground, then the coach pulled us all off the field under protest.

He should be given his wish.....a 30-day suspension without pay. Then he won't have to worry about the rain for a while.

That is unbelievable. Why didn't other umps over rule? Home plate ump looking right at it.

It's not as bad as Don Denkinger. Or THIS, The worst call in NBA history. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xlCbpPN8rs)

Thats not near as bad. I would actually argue that its actually not that bad of a call.

There was all kinds of contact there.

yea the foul probably should have been called before the shot happened.

If remember that play like it was yesterday. When they showed the slowed down replay during the game you can see the foul occurs on the pump fake, then he is allowed to take a dribble and a step to the side to fire off the 3 pointer. It was a horrible call, but in the NBA they consider that "continuation" on a daily basis.

Now to the call being talked about in the thread...that was unacceptable, that ump should be suspended. That is comparable to working in a retail store and a person's change coming to $2.75 and going under the drawer and giving them a 100$ bill. It's just not ok, and so bad of a mistake you can't call it a mistake, it's got to be done with premeditated intentions.

There was a really bad call in the Red Sox game yesterday, not quite as obvious as that but it clearly cost the RS a run.

I hear ya. We should have won the title that year.I'm Indiana also, there was a piece about that shot at the end of the Reggie Miller 30 for 30 video. The league even admitted that was a bad call.
