Cards got him when they traded Jim Edmonds to the Cardinals, Padres didn't think too much of the kid cause Edmonds was sucking big time then. texasdave
05-01-2010, 03:15 PM
Pitch very carefully here, Homer. Homer up to 115 pitches. Gameday had pitch # 116 at 95. Swing and a miss. Good old-fashioned hardball. Another 95 MPH fastball fouled off as the count stays 1-2.
Fastball up 2-2. Has to be Homer's last batter one way or the other.
Eek! Breaking ball gets away and the runner advances to second. Full count. Pujols doubles in the runner. Cards lead 2-1. Geez.
Homer is still throwing 95 and his last three pitches to Pujols are curve, change and change according to Gameday.

Griffey012

Even though Rolen only popped it up, I thought LaRussa was a fool to let Reyes pitch to him. Said it before he did.

I don't know what's gotten into our hitters, but they are really bearing down and not swinging at bad pitches and moving runners over and whatnot. Love the aggressiveness. B-Phil was all prepared to take the catcher out.

Rolen now at .260.
Bruce now at .265.
Phillips now at .247.
Cabrera now at .244.

The reliable ones:

Votto now at .286.
Hanigan now at .412 (despite going hitless today).

The ugly:

Nix now at .208.

You can't defend a Pujols rocket shot. I am actually ok with the walk. Get Holiday out and the game is still in reach, give up a base clearing rope, and its pretty much out of reach.

Everybody says you cant blame the managers for a win or a loss.

Well this is the prime example as to why you can.

Not a single reason there to pull fisher out of the game.

Since flipping when were DRH and Lincoln are go to guys in a tie ball game in the bottom of the 8th. Since never is the answer.

Since our bullpen has been overworked the last few days. Rhodes is the closer today, CoCo cant be used. Lincoln has been throwing very well since opening day. Masset probably is not gonna be used unless he has to be.

Bottom line is the bullpen needs to do their job.

I didn't see a reason to pull Fisher either. Thought he was throwing pretty well and had one batter get away from him with a walk. Although I have no problem with DRH. Kind of a lucky hit.

Lincoln has pitched well lately, but that's because he's come in fresh at the beginning of an inning. He is not a guy you want to bring in with runners on base. Bad move by Dusty.

I think we have just as good as a chance of getting 2 as 1. When we need 1 run for the tie, our lineup does nothing but swing for the fences and looks awful.

Now we're screwed either way with that walk.
