I always thought she was one beautiful and talented lady.

Ms. Horne might have become a major movie star, but she was born 50 years too early, and languished at MGM in the 1940s because of the color of her skin.

And Fred Sanford.

I'm not kidding, Fred Sanford was the first person who came to my mind when I read her name in the headlines this morning. He had it bad, didn't he?

That Sanford episode was the first thing that came to my mind too. Of course I'm a big Sanford & Son fan, and have the series on DVD. Classic episode.

Nice op-ed column in yesterday's Washington Post about Horne and her bridging the gap in a segregated world.
