Great game last night, would have been better if they would have one, but i was thinking the same thing everyone else was, where was nix in the ninth? Of course then we find out he was not available, if that be the case and it's a nagging injury, instead of leaving us short handed, put him on the disabled list and bring up Dorn, he's a left handed bat and he's hitting 295 for the Riverbats right now. Just my opinion, but anyway Go Reds win the next 2 and end this series in 1st place.

It cant be to bad, or else he would be on the DL

Dorn is on the DL, and isnt on the 40 man roster.

Im assuming so far nobody knows why he's not available.

Why are they being so quiet about this mystery injury.

I'm going with he has the runs or something.

Rumor has it he was sleeping in the clubhouse. Seems to be a lot of that going around lately. JK

I don't know, I was saying to myself to bat Hernandez in that situation because of his experience. I felt our chances were better of him hitting a basehit there than Nix. I don't think it was that dumb of a decision. The problem I had was with Stubbs swinging the bat and not sacrificing the tying run to scoring position. The Gomes run meant nothing.

If he had used Janish to pinch run then Heisey would have been an available bat. I wouldn't imagine their is much difference between Janish and Heisey on the base paths. Of course, Heisey does not possess nearly enough Veteran Creaminess, or is it Crustiness, to pinch hit in that type of situation.

Nix is unavailable today except under "dire emergency" because of back spasms. I guess they are continuing the "cover story" for another day. :)

Hernández is no slouch at the plate. .263 BA for the career which is above average for a catcher. Dusty made the right call and got a bad result.

Yep...Heranandez was a good call. After the DP, I started to say "Why didn't Dusty do this or that.." But that was just hindsight.

Hernanadez was 3-21 against that guy, Nix was 4-11 I believe? If Nix had been available, def a better call, but wasnt, so moot issue. If Hern (or anyone) got the hit then Dusty is genius, if he doesnt Dusty's an idiot, thats the game.

I just saw the grand slam for the first time...man o' man that's gotta be caught. I would almost rather it have just been a moonshot, no doubter so I don't have to think what if.

I love how people talk like there are balls that are "easy" to rob and are must-make plays for any above-average outfielder. It's one of the more difficult defensive plays an OF can make and only the best make it with any consistency. The situation is what made that a must-make play, but that was far from a sure thing except for the best LF's.
