We were something like 26-20 last year. I think we can do it, but we need to stay healthy and keep this rotation firing.

This club is so much better than last year's club.

As soon as Sutton replaces Cairo, we'll be better. Now that Sutton's hitting (better than anyone in Louisville the last 10 games), it should be very soon.

I agree that we'll be much better when we replace Cairo. And I agree we are better this year. But I dont think we can expect the same production out of LF (even though I have been a Gomes supporter since spring training 09). Our needs now, in my opinion, are a leadoff hitter and a cleanup hitter.

It's hard to find a player on the team who isn't OPS-ing in the high-800's through May, while some are OPS-ing over 1.000 (like Gomes and Nix, the guys you want to replace).

Healthy is definately the rub. It's looking like Rolen is the rock upon which this team is built, and he's already hurting. Votto, Bruce, the young lion pitchers, or somebody has got to take on the the role of being the foundation and being the difference maker(s).

Look what Laynce Nix did the last two games after his guffaw in LF in Atlanta? Talking about someone stepping up.

And, a Major Kudos to Dusty Baker for putting Laynce Nix into the starting lineup the last two games and giving him a chance to recover and prove himself to his teammates.

Can't say enough about that Major Move by Dusty Baker!!!

All of those IF's at the beginning of the season are falling into place...
IF Bruce turns into the Jay Bruce we expected
IF Rolen is healthy and hitting
IF our LF platoon produces
IF Cueto, Arroyo, Bailey pitch well
IF our 5th spot is productive
etc...

It's so nice to have things clicking. Sweep tomorrow fellas

Agree 100% about Nix. Many of the Reds who were here in 2005 would have let that one mistake become two (or five perhaps). Laynce really showed what he's about IMO.

Jerry Hairston, Jr. still helping out his old ballclub. He homers in the 13th to give the Padres a 2-1 win over the Cardinals. Reds now a full game in front of St. Louis

Ironic how an ex-Red is the only thing propelling the Pads to wins over the Cards. JHJ still cares...

Good day for the REDS as they gained a game over several contenders on Wednesday:

St. Louis, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Florida each losing and each of these teams within 3 losses of the REDS.

The REDS now just percentage points behind the Phillies with only the Padres ahead ahead of them.

The Reds are 1 of only 3 teams in the NL with a winning road record (11-10).

And, all three teams lead their Division.

The REDS are top-heavy at home in June. I think that will be a good thing even with them having a winning record on the Road. 16-10 at home though is really good. It's the best home record after the Mets, Braves, Cardinals, Dodgers, and Rockies.

what was the Reds record last season at this time of the year?

26-21 going into their 48th game (today's game). So, we're one game ahead of last year's pace.

Oh And Boyyaahhhhh 1st place reds baby.

Even though it was against the indians. . .

It shows a lot from this club getting swept by the mariners and having a piss poor outting vs KC. but then bouncing back and going on another roll.

If we are somehow in first by the end of the pretty much mostly road month of July, I feel we are in the drivers seat to make the playoffs..
