Carolina loses 3-1. The only run is Devin Mesoraco's second HR in as many AA starts.

Webb was removed for an issue with his pitching hand, most likely a blister. The Mudcats rotation has got a lot of work to do to be better. There have only been five starts all season that have gone seven innings or more, including Fairel's start yesterday. The team leads the SL in issuing walks.
Jerry Gil came on in relief of Webb today and did better than he has been doing as of late. His career here is on a short leash if he doesn't reduce his walks issued. Give him credit, he did pretty well today.

The Bats will be in Durham the end of June. We're looking forward to seeing them.

Wow, somehow I overlooked Donnie Joseph's debut with Lynchburg on Saturday night. Check out his line from that game:
2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K, 2 GO/0 FO
That brings his 2010 stats to:
25.1 IP, 13 H, 0 HR, 7 BB, 45 K, 0.71 ERA, 1.58 GO/FO ratio
If he has a few more outings like that then I would immediately promote him to Double-A.

Hey Doug, you were right on about Mesoraco this year. I know I was about to write this guy off along with lots of other people. But you kept saying, he's coming along, he hit better than you think. I'm believing it now!!!! :beerme:
Lynchburg wins 4-3 in 10. The winning run came home on a two-out walk. Some nice relief pitching--and Donnie Joseph wasn't even involved.
Still 6-2 after 4. Rain falling.
I wonder, since that should be a 7-inning game, if it's official after 4.

No, not according to the Bats announcer.
Bats have destroyed a guy Columbus just called up from Low A. Francisco Jimenez
Now leading 12-2 going to the bottom of the 5th.
Rain has faded away

I really wonder what has happened to Frazier. He certainly deserves at least another 4-6 weeks...but what if he is still hitting similarly? I think I would move him up a few spots in the lineup. May be he is not seeing good pitches or needs a confidence booster.

I wonder how much that knee is still bothering him....
