Off of Twitter:

Saturday night UTIL Neftali Soto had a night it would seem he would like to forget…In the doubleheader he was stolen on five out of five times in game one when he caught, had an error, could not block two wild pitches, got hit by a pitch, was picked-off second base, dropped a pop-up in foul territory (was not charged with an error though), went a combined 0-for-8 with three strike outs and left a total of eight men on base (seven in game two)…

Ouch. Mercifully, he had Sunday off. And Monday, he got to DH, which he enjoyed to the tune of two hits, including a HR.

Wow. Tough day, indeed.

Tough day.

Not being able to block two wild pitches shouldn't really be part of the list though. Nothing he could do about that.

That's a complete meltdown.

Confidence level right now behind the plate?

Zero.

Confidence level of his next pitcher right now?

Zero.

Good thing the Reds appear to be treating Soto with a lot of patience. Might as well let these high upside guys get the PT. If Soto can figure it out behind the plate and hit like he did a couple years ago, watch out. I understand that both of those ifs are very low probabilities, but I would like to see guys get PT in the minors who have a chance of playing in the bigs like Soto.

Nice recovery by Soto tonight.
