Two best NL first basemen in tonight's game. Is Jay Bruce playing for both teams? He is going to be Jay for the Redbirds and Bruce for the Reds. Now that is thinking outside the box.

I was wondering if Jon Jay was any relation to the ex-Reds pitcher Joey Jay and came up with some interesting factoids. It turns out that Jon and Joey are not related. However, Joey Jay, according to Wikipedia, was the first Little Leaguer to make it to the Majors. Nice. He finished his career with 99 wins and 999 strikeouts. Ouch! 100 wins and 1,000 K's would sound much better.

Cueto comes out pegging fastballs on both low corners of the zone. Lucky chopper gets into center for Felipe.

Johnny was really hit or miss that inning. He made a few bad pitches, got one up to Schumaker but didn't pay for it, put one low in the zone that was over the middle of the plate against Pujols, then gave one to Holliday to drive. The pitch to Rasmus was not where I'd try to place it but it wasn't bad location. He hit his spots on a lot of pitches, and then he had a few that were way out of the zone as well. Hopefully he settles down.

I hate it when people on this board whine about people on this board whining.

To me, a gameday thread is like sitting at the ballpark talking about what you see and other things. It's for those of us who can't get to the ballpark, and unfortunately, you may not like all of the conversation that the person sitting in front of you or behind you is saying, but you don't turn around and complain to them about what they're saying. That's just rude....especially, if you're just commenting that "Blue blew the call". Comments about the umpire are "normal" conversation topics when watching a game.

Since this is a forum, we have some rules that make it different than "sitting at the ballpark", such as profanity, name-calling to other individuals (because they can't punch you in the face under normal circumstances for calling them names), etc.

It's a fact when you've got a DVR that can slow "mlb's slow-motion" down even slower. Cueto's foot got there first. That's a fact. It's not like a ball or strike call. That is always an opinion. But on a safe or out call, there's no opinion involved. He's safe or he's out.

Interesting how they let Walters hit w/ a runner on 1st Base, but they didn't use him to pitch.
