He looked like a defensive back out there tonight. What a collision at home plate!
As a Vols fan...that was Eric Berryesque. :p:

Good, solid play. That's winning baseball. I also didn't mind him getting drilled the next time. That's what I would want my team to do.

I dont mind him getting drilled either as long as thats how he reacts each time. I dont want him charging the mound sometime if it happens again. He reacted perfectly and knew he was going to be taking a shot for it.

So who do we drill tomorrow in payback for Phillips getting drilled? I say we hit Nieves. That would be cool.
I loved BP's enthusiasm. He was aggressive all night. He flew across the bases to score on Votto's double. Awesome.

With that umpiring crew, I wouldnt retaliate right away but I sure can see Bronson taking his shot.

From Wiki...
The Raleigh, North Carolina native was selected in the second round of the 1999 draft by the former Montreal Expos (now the Washington Nationals) after signing a letter of intent to play both baseball and football at the University of Georgia. However, he instead signed with the Expos on June 21, 1999.
Micah Owings would probably be more than happy to plunk someone.

It was a great play. And I liked him getting beamed on his next AB - that entire sequence was very entertaining and it was good to see him show some fire. What a HIT though!

Yea, no problem with him being pumped about bowling over the catcher and zero problem with them plunking him in his next AB. Anyone who has a problem with what Phillips did already probably dislikes the guy so its just an easy time for them to some how justify it.

I don't think we'll hit anybody. I think the whole situation is over at this point. I really hope it is, at least. I don't want us losing anyone to suspensions.

Yea I doubt anyone gets plunked today. Although watch out if someone goes hard into second today, then its game on again.

Me neither, but I really want to see Gomes' 1st knock out as a red!
 I would love to see Gomes' reaction to the beaning of BP. I bet he was fired up!!!!

Better yet, I want to see Gomes knock out Dunn! Former left fielder vs. Current left fielder.

I'd be surprised if Gomes doesn't charge the mound this year.

I sure did get tired of hearing Ray Knight whine and cry about it all for the Nationals coverage. I knw we get home cooking on our network too, but this crying this weekend by their staff even would make Cardinals say "they complain too much"...

I'm annoyed that the Reds site doesn't have a video up of this collision.

It may not exactly be on the Reds wrap page for the game, but it is in mlb.com's database: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=8724659&query=%26game_pk%3D264638

Thanks for that link Sabo. The hit was as clean as can be and I actually like that fist pump afterward. Get under their skin a little and cause a HBP and ejection. It may feel like justice on the 'Nats end but the Reds got the better end of that confrontation.
