Interesting line up today.

Is it just me or does it seem that Leake catches alot of the b or c list lineups lately.

Note: Janish is 1 for 3 with a HR against the Giants starter today.

You are correct that he has gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to lineups. But as for this lineup I kind of like it, the only regular sitting is Cabrera.

Yeah I was more referring to Phillips in lead off capacity but who else could we really put there. This seems to be like a A- line up or B+.

I'm surprised Dusty is playing Rolen in a day game after a night game. I think you have to play him with the way he has been hitting, but I'm just surprised.

A split of the series after dropping the first two games would be nice. Get this homestand back on track.

DirtyBaker

I'd say for a day game after a night, this is a more starter-filled lineup than others.

Rolen's been knocking the cover off the ball the last week, but especially the last 2 games. Dusty might not want to end a good thing. Also, Corky Miller has yet to really contribute offensively. I expected to see Cairo and Corky as usual for the situation.

sivman17

Corky Miller has yet to really contribute offensively.

That's a bit of an understatement lol. He's 0 for 10. He is not good.

DirtyBaker
06-10-2010, 01:36 PM
For being a career minor leaguer who's been through as many organizations as he has, I can't help but root for the guy. :)

Keeping 1st place is still top priority though.

RedsFanInBama

Despite having no hits, life goes on for Corky.

RedsFanInBama
06-10-2010, 01:40 PM
Unbelievable. How does he score on that ball?

bgwilly31
06-10-2010, 01:44 PM
Bruce being lazy in the corner. Is how he scored.

I think Dusty is smelling blood with Leake pitching today and wants to ensure he has the offense to score enough runs. Rolen on the River has been hot lately, and we really need him to help secure a win today.

Leake was due for a bad game eventually

sivman17
06-10-2010, 02:02 PM
I really hate when I'm watching a Reds home game and the home broadcast isn't an option.

And our offense and bullpen is due to play well in a game in which Leake is pitching, but we'll see about that.

Against Wellemeyer our offense should have no problem putting up runs. The dude got rocked against Pittsburgh.

DirtyBaker
06-10-2010, 02:06 PM
I'm fully expecting Leake to shut it down over the next few innings. He's only thrown 37 pitches and there's a lotta game left.

Wellemeyer can't shut this offense down. The only starter out sitting is OCab.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 02:06 PM
Jay Bruce getting things going with a line single to right with one down.

nemesis
06-10-2010, 02:06 PM
They should be able to put up 4 runs today. Leake needs to hold em to 1 more run over the next 4 innings...

texasdave

RedsFanInBama
06-10-2010, 02:23 PM
Following at work, what happened?

The tried a hit and run, batter missed the pitch, runner is dead between first and second. Phillips runs guy back to first, tosses to Votto who drops the ball and lets the guy back safely at first. i guess Votto was worried about the guy on third.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 02:24 PM
Following at work, what happened?

Posey started to steal second but then stopped and got in a rundown hoping the runner from third would score. Phillips ran Posey back to first and tossed to Votto who dropped the ball while making the tag.

Maker_84
06-10-2010, 02:24 PM
i guess the reds only shot at the playoffs is to win the division because the NL west is too tough and will have at least 2 90 game winners and the Reds will struggle to hit 84 wins

DirtyBaker
06-10-2010, 02:37 PM
I think that's great. I'd much rather take chances on their their long reliever. Wellemeyer was pitching well before that DP ball.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 02:38 PM
Phillips singles to right. 13 game hitting streak. Runners at first and second.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 02:38 PM
Bunt single by Janish and the bases are loaded. He bunted it so badly it turned out good for the Reds.

RedsFanInBama
06-10-2010, 02:39 PM
Wow, got lucky there. Janish pops up a bunt into no-man's land and Bautista falls down trying to catch it. Loaded for Votto, 0 outs.

DirtyBaker
06-10-2010, 02:39 PM
Loaded for Votto. 0 out. Now we're cookin!

4-1.

RedsFanInBama

Wow, we're getting so lucky this inning but I'll take it.

Infield single by Gomes. Perfectly placed. 4-3 Giants.

texasdave

Phillips to Janish for the force at second; Sanchez beats the relay to first.

Jam shot that falls in shallow center and runners at first and second with one out.

texasdave

Phillips with still another base hit. The man is en fuego.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 03:09 PM
If that ball by Uribe gets through the hole this game is in serious jeopardy. That play by Janish gets a gold star.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 03:12 PM
Phillips moves to second on a wild pitch. Go ahead run in scoring position.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 03:12 PM
Janish battling. Pitch number eight coming up. Bautista throwing 46 pitches in an inning and a third. Fouled out of play. Here comes pitch number nine. Tipped foul. Pops out foul on the tenth pitch.

davereds24
06-10-2010, 03:16 PM
It really is too bad Janish can't hit. He got at least 4 mistake pitches right down the pipe and couldn't put any in play.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 03:18 PM
Full count on Votto. Payoff pitch. Votto grounds hard to the second baseman and the game is all tied at 4 after 4.

Runners on the corners with one out as Janish fields the ball behind second and beats the runner to the bag.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 03:26 PM
Pitching change as Burrell pinch hits for the Bautista. Owings needs to be nails. Correction. Del Rosario. I guess Del Rosario is more likely to induce the ground ball double play. Isn't Owings the long reliever?

davereds24
06-10-2010, 03:26 PM
This was probably the end to any shot Leake had at making the all star team.

texasdave
06-10-2010, 03:29 PM
Del Rosario induces the double play ball and it goes right through the legs of Rolen. Tough break for the rookie. 5-4 Giants.

I cant stand these giants announcers. I want to win this game soo freaking bad.

But this game is in the toilet. What happened to the giants supposed to be bad offensively. They look to be the best offensive team we played all year long.

WHY NOT WALK Him to make the bases loaded in that situation>?

Mind boggling to me. I mean what do you lose in walking him>?

You've got fatty panda bear coming up. It seemed like a no brainer.

bgwilly31
06-10-2010, 04:29 PM
To explain more about the giant announcers.

They are true homers. Could be the worst ive heard ever.

They spent the first two innings argueing balls and strikes against the giants.

Literally two innings of chit chat about balls and strikes and the strike zone of this umpire and how this umpire is known to favor home teams. And so on and so on.

They didnt express how unbelievably GREAT the two double plays were. Instead they just acted pissed off about them and acted somewhat as if we were lucky to get them.

Theres been countless things. BP Was up and this game should be tied becuase of this. The 100mph pitcher Balked like no other. He didnt come to a pause at all. It was obvious as can be. On phillips first strike with heisy on first. BP turned to the umpire and was complaining about it. because heisy should have been on 2nd and scored when BP got his hit the next pitch. The announcers were wondering what BP was complaining about. And then made fun of him for complaining about the called strike.

Theres more but thats all i can think of for now.

What an incredible at-bat by Phillips.

This guy is showing his potential this year with his ability to handle the bat. Makes me wonder what the past couple of years he could have done if he weren't trying to go yard with every swing.

RedsFanInBama
06-10-2010, 04:58 PM
Mota was pissed of at Votto about something, then Votto was saying, "My bad, my bad."

I guess it caused Joey to lose focus because he forgot how many outs there were and we got a double play.

Is this the new Francisco Cordero?

I mentioned last night in the game thread that Cordero looked better, even though he gave up the run. I didn't get to watch him today, but hopefully he looked good again and this is a sign of him getting back on track. It would be huge for the pen.
