Besides a big baseball fan, I'm also a big Disney fan. So I was super excited to find this (http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3978402) on the MLB shop site.

Apparently they are producing these statues for every team and placing them around SoCal for the All-Star Game (similar to the Flying Pigs Cincinnati had years ago).

The 7 1/2" figurines of the statues are just $24.99. If you also like Disney stuff, they are selling a few shirts with Mickey and friends on them as well.

I understand the connection of your two interests, but that statue, in particular is really, really ugly.

No kidding, it's not even the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House anymore. It's now Tarzan's Tree House.

Actually in Walt Disney World (Orlando) it is still Swiss Family, but Disneyland's (Anaheim) was converted to Tarzan. Both attractions are equally underwhelming.

Interesting.

I always liked it when I was a kid.

I like Disney movies up through the mid 70's and then I think they got pretty bad for the most part.

My mom did a couple of variety shows with Jimmy who went on to host the Mickey Mouse Club shows. Mom said the act was him and her and a chimpanzee. She said the chimp was a gentleman.

Never do work for Disney, they take FOREVER to pay you, your check gets signed off by about 20 people.

Out here I know many people whose only dream in life was to work for Disney. Once they did, their only goal in life was to escape from Disney.

I thought it was funny when I got a $20+ check from the Reds with Marge co-signing it. Usually companies reserve that for large amounts (e.g. one client has their checks over $5K co-signed). BTW, haven't done business with the Reds in years, but haven't canceled the contract so i I go to a business day special, my secretary can honestly say, "He's at a client's."

Isn't there some correlation between Pixar and Disney?

Disney bought Pixar in 2006 in a deal that made Steve Jobs Disney's largest individual stockholder.

Yep, so essentially Pixar = Disney. They have their own studios and talent, but John Lasseter is basically calling the shots at both studios.

And, yes, Disney went through a big lull creatively both at the movies and the parks. Once the people that worked with Walt started retiring and passing away, the company lost it's focus & identity for a bit.

But, after the Pixar deal brough Lasseter into the fold, the quality of Disney's offerings has gone way up. John Lasseter in many ways is a modern day Walt Disney. He is the perfect creative head for the company.
