was watching the College WS and I saw 25th pick Daniel Renken CSF pitch the other day, he reminds me of Enerio Del Rosario with the side arm delivery. His fastball is about 87-91, he can make it move but when he does he loses command, he had a changeup and a slder that had New Mexico looking foolish, his control isnt on Leake's level but it's pretty good, whenever he got in trouble he threw sliders and changeups to get out trouble

I saw a replay of the Big 12 championship game Texas AM and saw 4th pick Brodie Green, kid looks solid, played SS showed good range and had 4 hits in the game including 10 inning walkoff HR, he hit rockets every atbat also dropped down a beautiful drag bunt.

Also saw him in one of the regional games against Dartmouth, his 1st atbat he hit a grounder to 3rd and showed blazing speed to beat it out, then his next atbat drilled another line drive HR, kid looks alot like Heisey the way he smashes balls all over then can drop a ball down.

Reds like those "back from a beaning" types (see Turner, Justin).

I'm optimistic about Green. As a guy who has played both infield and outfield, I see the Reds trying to develop him as a super utility player.

The Reds 47th round pick William Shepherd 1B Texas is playing now on ESPn.

Does he go by Tant Shepherd? Dude just hit an absolute bomb to left, about 30 to 40 feet past the outfield wall.

I saw earlier Sheppard had a T in front of his name. It must be the same guy. Is he a Jr or a sr this year?

This was from the draftday thread.

47th Round: Reds select William Shepherd, SR 1B, Texas

Edit: Shepherd goes by "Tant," his middle name.

This will not change until the Reds win the World Series.......

Damn. Tant is now 4 for 4.

Jungmann for Texas is impressive. Just reading a bit about him, appears to be a top 10 pick next year.

Sounds like the Reds need to sign him. He could be a huge steal in 47th round.

Reds 10th round pick Arico from Virginia gets his 18th Save. That leads the nation. Would he be a good late season callup for the Reds pen?

I saw a replay of the Miami vs Texas AM regional game (have all these games on my DVR), Greene smashed a foul ball off his knee and layed there for about 5 minutes, stayed in the game and laced a double down the line later in the game. Yas Grandal in his first atbat ripped double down the line batting LH, man this kid is huge.

I'm a Texas fan and I am familiar with Tant Shepherd.

He is pretty talented with a bat. He is one of my favorite players on the Longhorns and I think his bat is only going to get better.

I read Tant as having an extra letter in there every time.

I can't help but think of the same thing to be honest. It's just like when someone here mentioned switching Denis Phipps' first letter of his first and last name to create a new name. I never saw his name the same way ever again.

Kevin Arico and Tyler Wilson have similar stuff, both throw 88-90 with lots of good breaking balls, both got knocked around pretty good against Oklahoma, I could easily see them converted to starters

No. He is going to Dayton to take over as the closer and Chase Ware is being promoted to the closer in Lynchburg. Which begs the question... Joseph going to Carolina?
