The Royals are probably the team you hear the least about. They never get any press, they are in a different league and they really haven't been a factor since George Brett played for them

I can't believe Jason Kendall still plays major league baseball.

He has been a very valuable catcher for really whatever team he's suited up for. Judging by his average looks like he's having another solid year. If Ryan Hanigan has a career somewhat close to Kendall I think the Reds would be very very happy.

Do they ever takenew photos for Gameday, or do they just photoshop new hats on them when they change teams? I swear that photo of Jason Kendall is the same one they've been using for about 5 years....

Pitchers who fall in love with one pitch, which is just a big looping curveball, tend to have that happen from time to time.

Two outs and Brandon Phillips comes to the plate.

texasdave
06-11-2010, 10:50 PM
I think they are pitching around Phillips it looks like. 2-1 on Phillips. Votto on deck. Fouled on. Count even at 2. Let's go, Brandon. Another foul out of play as the count holds at 2 apiece. Ball three inside as the count runs full. He walked him. I don't think they really cared if he walked or not. A lefthander, Dusty Hughes, will come in to face the slumping Joey Votto. Time to break out of that slump.

Lefties hitting .275 against Dusty Hughes. Ball one inside as Phillips trots down to second. Votto lifts a fly ball to left-center and the inning is over.

texasdave
06-11-2010, 10:58 PM

This sucks. People wonder why more fans don't show up to games and aren't getting on board, it's crap like that. Not to say the game is over yet, but if we lose in that fashion, its just typical Reds, blowing yet another game that SHOULD have been won. 4-0 lead blown, several chances to take a lead in the late innings, and then screw up a throw where the runner looked dead to rights. Don't know, I'm on Gameday.....was there guys?

Stubbs threw it towards home. Votto cut it off to get the runner in between 2nd and 3rd. He shuld have let it go through, the guy probaby would've been out at home. It would have been close. He has to let it through, it's the 11th inning!

I agree. If there is any chance at all he has to let that go through.

reds don't "need" this, but if they want a chance to win this series they might.

I love Votto, but that's honestly one of the most bonehead plays I've EVER seen.

sorry excuse tonight. no excuse in it, if you can't beat the royals you dont deserve to field a baseball team.

texasdave

Yesterday he takes off on a fly ball with only one out and gets doubled up. His head certainly doesn't seem to be in the game lately.

NeilHamburger

Man, did Votto just want to go home or something. After that first game since back in St. Louis he's looked completely lost on and off the field. Maybe a day or two off would be in order.

Really? Didn't the pen go scoreless until Micah? The bullpen is not to blame for tonight's loss.

Votto is something like 2 for 20 something, if he is not hitting, move him down in the order for a while!!!!

I don't like a reds loss either, but this level of negatity seems a little extreme.

Is there something more than Votto's neck issue that he had last week? Is it the anxiety/depression stuff again maybe?

Why is Owings in the pen anyway? We need help. How many names did Thom run off to say they couldn't have pitched because they were burned out? What part of WE NEED HELP is that much of a stretch?

tonight was a prim example of people overreacting to one baseball game. all games have luck in one team's favor, this one was obviously in favor of the royals. rolen was hitting well, when phillips gets a hit like that you expect the runner to score. our luck was ramon at first. when votto comes up, everyone thinks he will hit a bomb, not gonna happen folks. hits are not easy to come by. no matter what, we are in first place in our division. put the gun down folks, step back from the ledge.

The bullpen looked good tonight. It was our defense and offense that gave it away

Yes because the team that leads the league with wins in the last at bat really need a lesson on that.

It's one game. Go get em tomorrow.
