Devin has pulled his BA up about 50 points in the last ten days. He had gotten all the way down to .158 a few days back.

Fairel has thrown 32 pitches through three innings and I can tell you, it is hot out there today. If he gets through six he'll be doing well.

Mudcats still up 4-0.

88 degrees and the heat index at 93, not as bad as I had suspected but it's early yet.

I assume (and hope) he'll be in AA the rest of the way baring injuries, save perhaps a late season call up to AAA if someone in AAA gets bumped to the majors. Spend the rest of the year in AA, hopefully putting up similar numbers as he has previously this season, play all year in AAA next year with Grandal playing in AA next year, then off to the show the following season.

Why was Wladimir Balentien pulled in the 5th inning? The TV guys are saying they didn't notice an injury...

Odd. The DLS Reds outhit the Orioles 9-6, but lost 8-2. The VSL Reds outhit the Tigers 10-8, but lost 7-1. Weird.

Not really, but earlier today Fay tweeted that the Reds are "looking to Louisville and beyond for bullpen help."

Who could they be confusing "Jordan Smith" with.

the only thing that can be a mistake is that hes going to AAA as someone else is going to MLB from AAA.

Saw a good bit of the Louisville game. Impressions:

Frazier looked terrible at the plate. Looked off balance on balls away, and he seemed to be trying to do too much with balls on the inner half. Many swings and misses. Most of these ABs were against lefties, too, so it was particularly disappointing.

Francisco was swinging at everything, but he did hit a couple balls hard. That's what he does.

Denove had a nice approach. Not sure about the defense, as he did have a bad throw, but this guy is in the Hanigan mold. Unsung, but getting it done.

Impressed by Alonso. Two good swings against lefties.

Maloney looked unsteady. He was getting hit pretty hard, and he seemed angry all game. Not sure what the issue was, but when he got taken out, he came off the mound swearing a blue streak. He had much better composure in the majors last year.

Jesus Delgado has a nice fastball, but not much else.

Valaika and, as expected, Sutton, had professional ABs.

lollipop -- Did you see and have any particular impression of Joe Krebs? He's been fairly flawless. And, of course, he's left-handed. So you know where I'm headed with this . . .

Sorry to say I was snoozing when Joseph was on the hill. When I awakened, Adkins was plying his trade. Oh well... really wanted to see Krebs.
