Cabrera 6,
Cairo 5,
Votto 3,
Phillips 4,
Gomes DH,
Bruce 9,
Nix 7,
Stubbs 8,
Hernandez 2,
Cueto RHP

This board's favorite lineup.. LOL

I always wonder why Phillips is always moved to the 4 spot when Rolen doesnt play. I dont understand the love Dusty has with putting bad hitters at the top of his line up. Whats the problem with bumping everyone normally after Rolen up a slot and putting Cairo 9th? Seriously whats the issue that Dusty has such a problem handling? I wish someone could ask him with out him giving a BS answer and probably getting the person askings press credentials revoked.

Great job by our 1,2 hitters to not clog the bases. Glad the rest of the order didn't follow that philosophy.

Dusty's a fool. Leave our biggest gun sitting on the bench. I said when the inning started that Rolen should bat for Nix. I like Heisey as much as the next guy, but given the choice between those two you're going to pick a rookie with 50 plate appearances over Rolen?

Gotta remember Rolen has a pretty fragile back...it may be sore or bothering him as he has been slumping a bit the past few days (along with the rest of the team). Not saying that's why, but it's a possibility...cause I would have to believe you would hit Rolen there.

Dusty isnt going to use 2 players to make 1 change. if he PH rolen he then has to use Heisey in LF.

Dusty just doesnt work that way. I dont know if I blame him.

Heisey is tied for the mlb lead with 3 pinch hit hr's. Not going to question that move.

We didn't need a home run. Give me the choice of one guy to score the runner from third with no outs in that situation and it's Rolen, easily.

He must have forgotten it was the eighth inning of an American League game. Using two players at that point means nothing.

Cueto might not have been loose with our big offensive inning, and having to sit there and tighten up.

Okay. Gotta admit I was wrong about Cordero. I actually thought that was the best he's looked in awhile. I hope it's a good sign. Same with Masset.

Pitching has really stepped up on this west coast trip. We need to get our hitters back on track, mainly with men on base.

Cueto goes to 7-2, I think.

I'd still like to see us playing better. Of course, Cabrera is an automatic out right now at leadoff, so that doesn't help, and it's a lot different lineup when Rolen isn't in there. But a heck of a comeback effort by this team after getting swept in Seattle to come back and get a 3 game sweep in Oakland and split on the West Coast. I'll take that.

RedsFanInBama
06-23-2010, 06:16 PM

Cueto goes to 7-2, I think.

Man, if Cueto could just eliminate those head up his rear moments, he would be a really really nice #2 starter. I don't want to say ace. But a healthy Volquez and a consistent Cueto would be a really nice 1-2 in this rotation.

sabometrics
06-23-2010, 06:18 PM
Considering just how well the pitching was this road trip, and the assumption that the offense can't be any worse than this when they get home, I feel like there are more positives in this trip than negatives.

Bray likely up when the Reds get home, Volquez in early July, Chapman being groomed for a mid-to-late July call-up, I still feel very good about this club's chances. And if Toronto can break through and beat the Cards tonight they'll be tied for first yet again.
